Hey y'all thanks for all the help in picking out my laptop.I got my inspiron 1720 w/ 8600 gt right before shipping out to afghanistan. We chipped in and bought a sattellite, bu the connection is rather slow.

Im looking for a multiplayer game that I can play with my wife back home. We already tried most of the games on windows messenger.

Any specific type you are looking at?

Role Playing? Simulation? Real Time Strategy?

    :)

Okay, maybe not. As coriolis already mentioned more info would be required to provide good suggestions. Are you looking for a free or pay game? Muliplayer for only two people or massively multiplayer?

There are several options depnding on which type of game you prefer. If you are interested in role playing games I'd suggest Ultima Online, WoW, Everquest, etc. There are several games (like Ultima Online) that allow you to play for free on public servers but they probably won't be as many players on them as those servers that are licensed by the game manufacturer.

Im sorry I should been more specific. I LOVE MMORPGS!! Like wow and LOTRO etc. However: My connection is so slow. I tried runescape and it was just too painfull. Its about 3-5 second delay for signal to go full circle. I think its going to have to be turnbased. And free would be best. I am in a remote area and do not get mail regularly (so she cant mail me the game in reasonable time) also buying 2 copies at $40-$60 is really expensive!

She isnt into mmorpgs much, she would just do it to make me happy.

A really great multiplayer game is Age of Empires 2

I recommend Second Life, Its free and its pretty much a type of MMORPG that is like The Sims. But you can a lot of neats in it. And most of all...I think this is the most important part. You can interact with your wife in any way you want.

    Turn based...

Try heroes or might and magic (3 or 4), and if all else fails, there is always CIVILIZATION IV, super addictive...

Second life actually needs a pretty fast connection to play. On my 1530, I can barely play the game with my 54mb wifi, and it only turned stable when I switched to cable.

    lol!

I thought you meant you wanted to play a game now that your wife was half way around the world! I was going to say you lucky dog you. My suggestions would be very different if that were the case, and it probably wouldn't do much with the PC!

Try Civilization 4 or Sword of the Stars or even Sins of a Solar Empire since real-time strategy is so slow.

But those are all strategy games.
