I left my FF Addiction 2 years ago but I got into WoW right after that. I let WoW 4 months ago only to re-activate it this month. That wasn't such a great idea but I'll deal with it.

I'm trying to play Guild Wars and WoW at the same time. I love Guild Wars but WoW took alot of the time away from GW. ~cries~ Other than that I had fun playing Dungeon Seige 2. That game has lots of neat armor and the spells are animated nicely. The story is a bit strange but there is going to be an expansion for it soon so that might tie up some ends in the main story.

That was my post under WanderingPC. Anyways, I've started playing Diablo II as well. But I guess that's not really too current. :\

You may like Titan Quest. It takes a lot after Diablo II. Strong RPG with lots of action. Oblivion is a must, if you have the hardware to run it. It is quite possibly the best mainstream RPG ever made, despite the technical issues.

Have you ever played Knights of the Old Republic? Now that's sexy, too.

FPS, well, the usual: FEAR, Prey, etc. I recommend Half-Life 2 + Lost Coast + Episode 1.

I'm on WoW nowadays, just with friends, I doubt I'll end up in high levels since its all about organized raids and such, something which my friends and I don't have :(

HL2, HL2:EP1 are 2 of the best games ive played im my days. Oblivion is also very fun, that is if you have the system to play it. Looks like you've got a good enough card to do it MONEY, the 7600 isnt bad, I wish I had one.

Well the Half Life games seem to be pretty popluar as well as BF2, Oblivion, Prey, and CS

    Just a few quetions though...

    • Do you need HL2 to actually play EP 1 and 2?
    • How's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter on PC? is CS better? (I love Tom Clancy games)
    • Does Prey have online play? good replay value?

    Thanks!

I can't answer your other question, but:
You can play EP1 and EP2 without actually owning HL2, yes.

I heard GRAW is a fantastic game, but download the demo first and see if you like it. It feels too much like a console game (since it was ported over from the 360) for my taste.

Prey's online play isn't that great atm, but I think it will become very good over time. I mean, how can you go wrong being able to walk on walls and ceilings, move through 3d windows from one part of the map to the other, etc., to blast your enemies. I think they have work to do with connecting, finding players, etc., but it has only been out 2 weeks or so. To me, still playing the single player game through, the single game is worth the price of the game.

Ghost Recond Advanced Warfighter is AWESOME. The realism of your movements in the game astounds me at times. As well as how the weapons react and alot of other things. I highly recomend that game. BF2 is fun if you have alot of time on your hands too. Ha, I can't suggest WoW, just for the reason I have seen it comsume people, lol, its like a bad drug addiction.

Sadly, the porting of GRAW to the PC was a very nasty affair. I have played both versions. The controls were not reconfigured smartly enough for the PC, and the engine was badly optimized: it's known to run buggy and has framerate issues even on high-end machines (it's unthinkable to have to lower the resolution and deactivate some filters on a 3800+ X2 with a 7900GT... not the greatest machine, but still powerful enough to run FEAR at high settings). Besides, for some reasons, the AI has become very stupid, while it was challenging (though far from perfect) on the 360.

Sorry that was lenghthy. Thought you'd like to know. GRAW is best experienced on a 360.

As for Multiprey, it's one of the better MP experiences I've had since UT2004. Too bad the servers are not too crowded yet, but that's just a matter of time.

Yeah, I have played it on the 360 as well, but my hatred of the console (mainly the whole "controler" thing) has offset this. I haven't experienced any bugs however, and the AI seems just like the 360 (having played both), but thats just my opinion.

I have a 360 and I have GRAW. The multiplayer isn't that great (read: spawn campers in every game.) (read: it is really easy to spawn camp) (read: like really really easy). It's fun for a while, but then it just gets boring. The campaign isn't really that great either, the AI is dumb and its pretty hard. The good thing about GRAW is that it has good graphics. Ooh that matters soo much.

CS would be great for multiplayer.. though I'm guessing you knew that.

A non-fps/rpg different game would be Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. I have it.. its really fun, except for the fact I don't have a computer good enough to play it :(. So if my amusement park gets too big, it starts slowing down biggg time. Well that's gunna changfe soon anyway (hel80 woo).

Hmm.. Warcraft 3 is fun. Wait that's not rpg either :( ...

If you want a good FPS, there is this old one called System Shock 2. Apparently it is one of the all-time best/scary FPS and it has a little RPG element in it. It's not sold in stores anymore, so I'd ebay for it.

Well RPGs are fine. I just don't want an online RPG that will take over my life

Thanks for the info on GRAW. It's currently scratched off my list.

What about Star Wars Republic Commando? Anyone play that?

I did, and it was freakin' awesome. Nothing like Battlefront 1 and 2, which, in my humble opinion, promised a lot and did not deliver. Commando is basically single-player, brief but lots of SW tactical action.

Ohh god, System Shock 2 is SOOOO much fun. The only problem, its hard to find (the only way I could get it is to download it, a bit illegal but I couldn't find it to buy) AND you need to use this one fix to get it to run on XP, but it is still one of the best games out there (even though its like 5 years old). Ha, so much fun.

So far the games I have on my list are

    • F.E.A.R.
    • Oblivion
    • HL2: Episode 1 (i've never played HL2 though. Should I get it for the story? Or maybe I could just read about it.)
    • Starcraft!! :D

I'm still looking for one other game. Maybe BF2 or CS

Kudos on StarCraft! Now that's a blast from the past. So many hours... :D

I would not recommend BF2 due to crappy support by EA, high hardware demands, and generally low-key community--but those are opinions, not facts.

Great shooters are Far Cry and The Chronicles of Riddick, both at a budget price. For genres other than those you've already selected, why not take a look at Sid Meier's Pirates!, an action-adventure with some managerial tasks, combat, plot, and even dance. I enjoyed it a lot while it lasted. I also agree with System Shock 2. Masterpiece!

    C.

[edit: I never played Rep. Comm. in multi... they say it's not good, but I don't listen to rumors much. ].

Well my notebook just arrived and I'm stuck at work :(

Well I'll be getting HL2 today at Best Buy, and those other 3 (fear, oblivion, SC) thru Amazon to save some money. And maybe something else a little later

    Thanks guys :D

lol! starcraft will easily consume your life so beware of battlenet

if you do/dont enjoy oblivion, try morrowind. u can get it farily cheap off amazon with 2 expansions and my opinion is there's a bit more "adventure" than in oblivion. the less developed graphics give it a great dark aura as well

get half life 2 before episode one, comes with deathmatch and cs source!

So I guess its HL2 for today then :D i'll pick it up on the way home

Sid Meier's Pirates is pretty fun.

I like the sound of that...

As soon as I get my HEL80, I am definitely getting Half Life 2 and Counter Strike: Source. I also want Spore.. as soon as that comes out its mine!

Roflmao, no, those are for the most part facts, but that doesnt change the fact that it CAN be one of the best games at times (once in a blue moon when your on a good server with fun players that work together). Half life 2 and HL2:EP1 are a must, they will really show you what your machine can do (specifically hl2:ep1 and maybe even download lost coast, its a free demo).
