I recently put in an order for the MSI Gx640 laptop and now I have become all game crazy now. =) Lately I have been pouring over PC game reviews and checking out prices on Amazon. I have comprised a wish list with a fair amount of titles from the user reviews and critic reviews.
So on to business...I am going to list the games alongside their prices ( Amazon has some really reasonable prices from other resellers, I mean Mafia for 3 bucks! AWESOME!

So please give me your input and even suggest some games! Genre really doesnt matter too much for me =)

P.S. I'm not a graphics snob, so please feel free to suggest old school games.
Lol as of typing this I am playing Arcanum and Original War from GOG.com and I absolutely love these 2 games =). Also can you tell me if the game will be compatible on my Windows 7 laptop. I really don't want to dual boot Xp.
Ok. thanks. Try to narrow my list to the top 5 if you can and please feel free to add your own Top 5. I like to read everyone's views and advice.
Also its like 3.99 for shipping on every order unless i order off amazon =(
Well i guess I still save money considering how Amazon wants 72 dollars for Half-Life GOTY and another resellers wants it for 5 dollars... Sorry about my post... i ramble...a lot

    Torchlight - $17.90

    Elder Scrolls 3 : Morrowind - $8.90

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War Gold Edition - $4.00

    Mafia - $3.25

Half-Life: Game of the Year Edition - $4.50

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic - $1.00!!!

    Sacred : Gold Edition - $8.61

    Ubersoldier 2 - $5.50

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down - $.92 ( Lol is it that bad?)

Sam and Max : Season One - $6.45

Baldur's Gate 4 in 1 Boxset - $15.00 ( Heard GREAT things about this one)

Hitman Trilogy (Includes Silent Assassins, Blood Money and Contracts)- $7.00

Painkiller Triple Dose (Painkiller, Painkiller: Battle out of Hell, Painkiller: Overdose) - $8.00

    Company of Heroes - $2.50

    Crysis - $9.00

DUNGEON SIEGE PLUS LEGENDS OF ARANNA EXP - $9.99

Titan Quest Gold (Titan Quest and Titan Quest Immortal Throne) - $4.79

I would just start with Orange Box.

Then out of your list, get:

    Torchlight
    Half-Life GotY Ed.
    Baldur's Gate 4 in 1
    Crysis*
    Planescape Torment

(*)~merely for the lulz on how it will cripple your, or any, computer. It's good to have around for benchmarking systems anyway.

Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 (if you only want to buy one of them, get L4D2)

    Fallout 3- simply amazing

Mass Effect 1 and 2, good storyline and gameplay

Mirror's Edge, some of the most fun I've had in a game for a while

Team Fortress 2 for some really good multiplayer

On Steam, Trine is only 5 euros, and I thought it was worth it...

    From your list:

Torchlight - Wait for a Steam sale or just buy it off Steam, don't bother with shipping.
Half-Life - again, just use Steam. You will have to install it anyways for this game to work.
Warhammer 40k Gold - $4 wow a great deal and worth it. My fave RTS.
    Crysis $9 - Good deal!
CO. of Heroes $2.50 - Great deal and excellent game.

I might also mention the Direct2Drive spring sale on now. And of course as said... Steam usually has some great deals too.

    Other games I'd recommend.

    The Orange Box
    Bioshock
Deus Ex ($2.50 right now on Steam)
    Borderlands
    Dead Space
    FEAR
    World in Conflict
    Any Total War game
    Tomb Raider (Anniversary, Legends, Underworld)

ohhh how I can go on, lol.

I'd say add in the RPGs:
    Dragon Age Origins
    The Witcher

    Deals this week:
    GTA4 for 7.50usd.

Hey, where did you find the Baldur's Gate deal? I want it too for 15!

Wow thanks for the replies! I never really used steam, but it seems alot easier than buying the software. Lozanogo I got the pricing off of Amazon.com and its like 14-15 dollars for the BG 4 in 1 pack.
Btw is Crysis a good game? I really dont know how to benchmark and I'm fairly new to computers. This would be my first ever purchase for a computer that was solely for gaming.

You can download a demo for Crysis and see if you like it. I liked it. I played it 2+ times, but the "alien" parts of the game are not the best. But I loved the sandbox jungle warfare.

Also check out Far Cry (the first one) for more sandbox jungle combat! I think you can get it free (legitimately not pirated) from Gamershell.com

If you're getting Morrowind, you have to get Oblivion. It's a superior game in pretty much every way.

Same goes for Half-Life...you gotta get Half-Life 2 and all the extras. The Orange Box should take care of that.

If you're gonna get the Orange Box, you may as well get the Valve Complete Pack on Steam. Only $99 for everything through L4D2. Best deal out there for a ton of great games, especially if you don't own many yet.

Serious Sam HD is a goofy, high-intensity shooter that's pretty cheap.

Trine is VERY cheap right now, and very fun.

Personally I think Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 are absolute garbage games.

So for all the games, try to find demos before buying. Just because others think L4D2 is good, there are many others who think it's a waste of money at even $5

I would get GTAIV , Modern Warfare 2, L4D2 , Orange Box , Crysis , Frontlines fuels of war( not very known game but quite awesome.. almost like Battlefield series ) , Batttlefield Bad Company 2.

That's right. The Left for Dead games are not for everyone. Especially when this two games its main component is online.

    Some of my favorite games:

    Modern Warfare 2
    Borderlands
    Mass Effect 2
    Just Cause 2
    Left For dead 2

If you like the left for dead feel, get counter strike source, same engine/feel. Its one of the best online games.

And If you don't mind DRM, Assassins Creed 2 is an amazing game, one of my favorites.

It might be superior in gameplay, effects and all that, but it wasn't as engaging or compelling as Morrowind was, at least in my opinion. Both good games, but I thought that Morrowind was a much more enjoyable and epic experience.

If you played the original Fallout 1 and 2, stay well away from Fallout 3.

If you didn't, go ahead and buy it.

Why? There's nothing wrong with Fallout 3. I find it quite good and worthy successor to the first two despite lacking the groin target. ;)

i think this is where the thread turns into "i thought 'this' about 'that' game" then "well i think you are wrong i 'hated/loved' it"

just get whatever demos you can and try it first is all anyone can say. opinions are all different. if not, do what i do, wait til a game is on special somewhere for pennies then check out gameplay vids on youtube to see if i want it.

Thanks guys! i decided go with

    1. Baldurs Gate 1 in 4 Collection
    2. Planescape : Torment
    3. Mafia
    4. Dawn of War
    5.Company of Heroes
    6. Painkiller Overdose
    7. Torchlight ( Off Steam )

Lol I just couldn't narrow it down to 5!!! I based my list off a variety really. It just seems insane to have even more RPGs alongside the BG Collection

Most of the games everyone mentioned I have played or can GameFly it for my 360. I've heard alot about Morrowind and I am really intrigued by the reviews and its community.

Now my own opinions lol... L4D2 is terrible if you play single player by yourself and caters to its multiplayer aspect in terms of "fun".

Fallout 1 and 2 were amazing. Seems like most RPGs after that went downhill in the storylines and character developement department. To the person who likes Fallout 1 and 2 play Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. Its made by Troika and it has a really good storyline and tons of quests that arent all boring. It's only like 5.99 off GOG.com. The only bad thing is the combat system which is pretty terrible. Also the graphics are super outdated, but are still pretty to look at. lol

One other recommendation: since you liked Fallout 1 and 2, give FOnline: 2238 a try. It's a Fallout MMORPG, based on a modification of the Fallout 2 engine. It's free if you own Fallout 2.

Note: it's in beta stage, so bugs and character resets are expected.
