Post games that you've played on 950 + the graphics details, the overall performance and the system specs

    Here is an example:

    Lenovo 3000 N100
    Core Duo T2300 1.66ghz
    1gb ram
    intel gma950

NFS:u2 - played it on the lowest settings - it was barely playable - most times 25+ fps, sometimes <15fps.

Sensible soccer 2006 - runned A+, on all settings, however some minor graphics bugs appeared.

I've found Solitaire to run at a decent framerate on the GMA950.

Of course, UT2K4 and Doom 3 were a different story entirely. Doom 3 is unplayable. UT2K4 is sort of playable, but it doesn't matter the settings, it can't keep a consistent framereate.

Far Cry is for the most part unplayable.

I have played games from JayIsGames on a ThinkPad X60s and they all worked without problems.

Is the GMA stronger or weaker than the X200M? I can tell you the games I've played on the X200M :).

GMA is weaker. My cousin has a GMA900. He plays Prince of Persia Warrior Within on it at 800x600 with everything low.

I'm almost certain you can play Diablo, Diablo 2 and Starcraft. They have no requirements, and mostly 2D I believe.

You can play those old games on 1024 res with all settings maxed out. Same goes for Warcraft 3 & expansion.

    no ****?
in fact i can't play any 'of those old games in 1024x768', cause they all don't support that resolution.

the reason i started this thread is not that i desperately want something to play on my notebook, but to make something like a database where one could check if specific game would run at all.

i am aware that gma950 is not a gaming vga - it doesn't even support hardware t'n'l !!

Warcraft 3 supports 1024 resolution. I forgot that D2 and Starcraft don't. But you can easily play those games at absolutely max settings on the GMA 950. I even played D2 near max on my ancient Intel Extreme 2.

    GMA listing that I've played:

Far Cry - inconsistant frame rate regardless of settings
UT2K4 - inconsistant frame rate regardless of settings
Warhammer 40k Dawn of War - Inconsistant but playable frame rate
Pariah - Inconsistant but playable frame rate
Quake III - Playable at high settings
Call of Duty - Playable at medium settings
Command and Conquer Generals - Works fine at decent settings
WarPath - Inconsistant frame rate but works
    Godfather - works relatively ok
    Battlefield 1942 - works well
Soldier of Fortune 2 - Works at high settings
Winter Assault - works on low settings, inconsistant frame rate but playable
Medal of Honor - works fine on high settings
Return to Castle Wolfenstein - works fine on medium/high settings

Any games older then this generally work fine, any newer games generally don't work. Hope this list helps out a few people - plenty of fantastic older games out there.

Budding, in your post 'those games' applied to star craft and the two diablos. you added wc3 later.

    Havok - nice list, 10x

    btw, PES5 - 800x600 - high, 1280x800-low - both playable

No but seeing as Dawn of War and Battle for Middle Earth work, which look identical, it should, but I'd give the demo a look first.

wow.. HavoK now I see why you are from the few GMA fans... ;)

Doom 3 was mentioned a few times, so as far as I remember Doom 3 runs at an almost playable speed and low settings, but it slows down from time to time to close to an unplayable speed or just choppy (~ >10fps). And so, even at low settings and resolution (640x480), Doom3 is something between barely playable or not so playable on GMA.

Here is the GMA 950 Game Compatibility List from Intel.

Edit: Link fixed. Thanks, Dreamer. The link I had posted originally was for the desktop version of the GMA 950. You can see the link in the post from Dreamer below. Second edit: I had misspelled the name of Dreamer, sorry about that.

D2:LOD does actually have a high res setting it's like 1ksomething by maybe 780 something like that.

You should be able to play games like Baldurs Gate and Baldurs Gate 2, as they said any older games. I have an X200M and I can run almost any game but the newer the game is the harder it is. For instance I've been playing Morrowind at 10 fps in town, 20-30 in wilderness and maxing out in buildings and caves.

I could probly play Hellgate:London but the FPS would probly be REALLY LOW.

---My guess: Any game younger than 2004 should run.---
**someone else will probly give you a better, more accurate date :)

My advice is if there's a game you want to play try and get a demo for it, see how it runs then buy it if you want. :)

Btw... I wouldn't suggest putting Morrowind on the list, you can play it but your FPS gonna be pretty low.

I can play World of Warcraft at a better more constant framerate than Morrowind!!!!!!!!! And that's with WoW's settings on max or almost on max.

Command and Conquer First Decade is a bang for the buck. You get all the CnC games except for CnC3 for the price of one game. Well, you might have problems running CnC Generals smoothly at higher settings.

I'd love to see some screenshots of this, with FPS. If what you say is true, the 950 can do some good stuff. I run native resolution 1440x900, all maxed except filtering, and get a good 35-50FPS. I would like to see the 950 run maxed out. No sarcasm, just think it would be cool. What resolution are you running at?

I think that Minesweeper and Solitare should run just fine on a GMA 950, but don't turn it to high settings, okay?

I've ran these games on my GMA945 (desktop)

    Diablo 2
    Starcraft
    Warcraft 3
    World of Warcraft
    Fable: The Lost Chapters
    Rome: Total War
    Medieval: Total War
    Shogun: Total War
Prince of Persia: The Sand of Time
    Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (1)

You can run pretty much any game that does not require you to have a decent shader model... In other words - most games released prior to 2000.

And you can always go to www.CanYouRunIt.com to test out your system to see which games you can run. But the website is NOT ALWAYS accurate for all types of systems.
