I am currently using 163.44 driver. But whenever I play highly graphic intensive games such as Bioshock and World in Conflict, after around 5-10 minutes, the game becomes extremely slow and my fps goes way down. Is there anyway to fix this?

Have you downloaded the Vista performance patch? May be the wrong name.

It might be a temperature problem.

i assume he either got a vostro or inspiron, so the cooling of the system should not be a problem, unless he owned it for an extended period already, then it might be a possibility.

Sorry I got an Acer Aspire 5920. This laptop is less than a month old and I have cooling pads. So it's not a temperature problem.

I'll check if I am in a power saving mode.

EDIT:Just checked and I am in balanced mode. I'll give high performance mode a try

I thought Microsoft had already addressed this issue in one of their patches.

EDIT: Here's an article I found that may help you. I could be totally off base with this one but it sounds like a "memory leak" forgive me if that is the incorrect term.

Thanks for the link, but I have trouble installing those patches, when I finished downloading the first two patches, it says searching for updates, but then a prompt comes up saying "The update does not apply to your system."

Are you running Vista? Are you running 32bit or 64bit? Did you download the right patch and it could be that you've already patched your system with the first two. How do the last two go?

Yes I am running vista 32 bit. I clicked on the update link on that site you provided me and it validated my Window OS all that, when when I tried to install it that prompt pops up.

The last two was able to be installed

My guess would be that either you installed them and forgot (i've done this thousands of times.) Or Windows installed them for you. Or you could have a newer more updated version than the first two. Did the last two patches help your gaming experience at all?

It seems to have helped a bit, but it still has the laggyness. Before it was unplayable, now it is sort of playable.

mmmm Personally with it onlt being a month old you should have a warrenty of some type... i would install XP or linux if you know what your doing and see if this persists. this should be able to tell you if the problem is software or hardware. if hardware send it back!

It could be that you've already installed them or Vista has installed them for you. They could've also been installed via Windows automatic updates.

What drivers are you using? Some have reported that switching to 163.67 solved the problem.

man, it's hard to help u out that way, cuz we are limited by the info u give us. did ur lap come with pre-installed vista? if so, then delete all the bloatware, and make sure u update the drivers the right way: clean the old ones with driver cleaner in safe-mode, etc.

Switching to Forceware 163.69 completely solved all my problems. I had almost the same problems like you. Get it from nVidia.com.
