I've been to several unofficial Crysis sites and there are several posts that say there are games that are coming that will be comparable to crysis if not better. I'm curious to see what kind of games they are talking about since they don't list them. I'm looking forward to playing several games including Crysis in the future.
BTW: What I mean by comparable I meant graphical wise.
BTW part 2: I'm looking for pc games since I play on the pc so I'd prefer games that are for pc. I don't have a xbox 360 or a PS3.
-
Unreal Engine 3 games.
-
Bioshock and Unreal Tournament 3 are both amazing looking games that are comparable to Crysis. Those three are some of the best PC games coming out this year (in graphics and fun
)
Edit: On the Bioshock page, go to the "Downloads" section and watch the "Hunting the Big Daddy" video to see why Bioshock is one of my most anticipated games. -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
should there be a slew of games coming out using the same engine as cysis ?
-
Even though it's a PS3 game, Haze's graphics look amazing. I mistook a jungle video of Haze as a scene from Crysis.
-
I thought haze was coming for pc too? I might be wrong.
-
It is, but it seems like it's going to be a watered down port.
-
go Unreal Engine 3
screw Crysis.... Unreal Tournament 3 is what a gamer should be looking forward to. -
Though I do wonder what kind of video performance I'll get out of my go7700 see as how the new G1S has kind've bumped this card down from med-high end to more midrange in terms of new game performance. -
Unreal Tournament games are all fine and dandy, but Crysis is going to be the next big step for FPS gaming, just like Half-Life and Half-Life 2.
-
Wow all the suggestions are pretty tempting! The more suggestions the better....What do you guys think of Call of Duty 4 for pc?
-
-
- Physics (using multi-core CPUs and/or PPUs)
- DX10
- the source of many multi-platform games.
Mainly the Unreal 3 games will prove to be the best for multiplayer. -

Wow, Unreal Engine 3. With a few more polys and more bloom. I couldn't be more stoked except for the part where I'm not at all.
When I went to GDC, I saw Crysis running, and I saw Unreal Tournament III running. UT3 looked like UT2k4 warmed over. Crysis actually looked like its screenshots.
Beyond that, existing Unreal Engine 3 games on the market (Rainbow Six: Vegas and RoboBlitz) honestly aren't that impressive looking, or even impressive in general. RoboBlitz in particular really disappointed me; the horsepower it needed wasn't really justifiable compared to how it looked.
If you'd seen how hard Crytek was pimping CryEngine 2, you'd sort of expect it to be the "next big thing." CryEngine 2 also uses physics (and can take advantage of more than two cores), DX10 (like it actually matters), and will likely go multi-platform.
I saw both games running at GDC. Crysis impressed me. UT3 did not. -
Crysis did not impress me in the last E3, the game play was sluggish and not original... like FarCry. Pretty much a single player experience... low re-play value.
The graphics were cool looking... thats pretty much it.
I enjoyed playing the BF2142 demo and the UT2007 (before it was called UT3) because of the multiplayer interaction.
The current UE3 engine games are somewhat unimpressive... except for Gears of War... which pretty showed what the engine was made of.. with the developer EPIC.
I'll reserve my judgment until next month's E3, then we shall see the final beta and near retail versions of these games. I will be there... however boring it may be without the Exhibit Halls and booth babes. -
There is also Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and Halflife Episode: 2, the new source renderer is looking better by the day. -
CryEngine2 > Unreal Engine 3 because:
Destructable Environments!!!!
Seriously, how long is it going to take for this to become a common feature? Only next gen games I know using it are Crysis and the new Battefield. -
And your next post essentially just argues in favor of multiplayer only FPS games. -
crysis is the next revolution in PC gaming and one of the most talked about next games next to Starcraft 2. I definitely think it will do what Half Life 2 did. Speaking of Half Life 2, I can't wait for Half Life 3!!!! (Maybe in 10 years)
-
Sorry, but Crysis isin't anything new or fantastic. It's just another damn FPS. It doesn't look fun or appealing in any way. Why all of a sudden are game designers trying to push graphics in stead of gameplay. I'd say I'm definately more excited about UT 3 then Crysis.

That Bioshock looks like a very scary game. I wonder if my Anatomy teacher is like that guy in the second video. I wonder
But I like Crysis and UT3. Crysis has things like destructable objects and such stuff. But UT3 is a great game and America's Army will also run at this engine.
Not really comparable if you ask me. -
The only DX10 games I'm really waiting on are Crysis, Quake Wars, and UT3.
-
Maybe Starcraft 2 will be in DX10?
-
Unreal Tournament games are the quintessential "just another FPS," if you want my honest opinion. Absolutely nothing about them sticks out from other online FPS games. The gameplay modes? Nothing unique there. Heck, when Battlefield came out, the first thing Epic did was copy their gameplay mode.
Crysis, meanwhile, has numerous interesting features like the weapon systems, suit configurations, etc. The physics are absolutely amazing compared to any other FPS game I've seen (with the possible exception of Half-Life 2, but it will even put that to shame), and the level design is spectacular. -
definatly, by then most games will be dx10 by default, yet have options for dx9.
-
I never quite understood the hype about UT3. What's different? What's new? Isn't it pretty much the exact same game as UT2K4, just with much better graphics? I mean, UT2K4 was a fantastic game, but Is there anything else? I'm honestly curious.
Crysis seems to be something pretty new and original (at least compared to most cookie-cuttter FPS's). Read this recent article about Crysis for an idea. My favorite part:
" Yes, you can pick up, throw and even beat people with live chickens. You can pick up, throw and beat people with anything smaller than a car, and in this we include wheelbarrows, spades, tree trunks, grown men and even most of a car. At one point in our playtest we shot a man’s helmet off, caught it, beat him to the ground with it, shot him again and dropped it on his body."
I can't wait for this game. -
But it's just another FPS. Sure, UBI will find their way around it, trying to make new and exciting things. But in the end, your shooting people and completing objectives. I think Unreal is a great series, and will offer new content this time around. . In the end, were just going to have to wait. If anything, I think Valve has the best physics engine. I think Portal may give those two games a run for their money, because the game is doing something unique and different, something people really haven't seen before.
-
To be honest, using your criteria, both Crysis and UT3 are "just another FPS". What's with this war over titles? Someone said earlier a true gamer would be looking forward to UT3...a real gamer will be looking forward to ALL titles that have great potential regardless of developer or engine.
UT3 will be awesome. I greatly enjoyed UT2k4, but for the most part it IS most of the same. Still looks quite exciting though. Crysis will also be awesome. Anyone who has read anything about what they're planning for multiplayer should be very excited. It sounds pretty revolutionary. Also, to the person who said CryEngine2 wasn't going to be licensed, they've been designing this engine for licensing from the start. The engine is also being developed for 360 and PS3 as well, and there have been promo videos shown off already (mainly at GDC) to get developers interested in licensing the engine.
In short, both these games and many more are going to be fun and exciting, and I can't wait to play them all. -
I think crysis is using it's own physics model, so you won't have to have a physx card to get physics in your game. That's pretty cool I think.
-
I have always been a big fan of the UT series and the games. I was also a fan of Far Cry. After looking at them both, Id have to say Crysis would have the upper hand on UT3 and all other games right now. UT3 does look very impressive, but like someone mentioned above, its like UT2007 on steroids. I think the developers of Crysis have really put together something special that is going to be the game of the year. I guess time will tell.
-
As for Valve having the best physics -- their physics are fine for now, but you obviously haven't seen many Crysis movies. -
I'm sorry if this tread is turning into a debate but that wasn't my intention at all. But anyways what do you guys think of Call of Duty 4?
**of topic** what do you guys think of my new avatar ;D. Isn't mine but I thought it was cool so I decided to add it.
Games comparable to Crysis
