Hi!
As my Dell really bothered me with it's broken video card, I got myself a sweet 15,4"-Samsung to work with. It has the Intel GMA 4500MHD. Of course, not a gaming machine at all, but when I tried out BMW M3 challenge, I was really surprised to see it running fine in medium settings in 1280x800. Encouraged by that, looked through the 5-10€ classic games and bought World Racing 2. But here I was a little disappointed, can run it only in lowest settings in 1024x768 and even there, the framerates drop pretty much sometimes.
Now I wanted to ask, which "newer" (max. 5yrs old or so) games people got running on this chipset. Any chance with shooters like Far Cry? I'm talking about playable framerates in low-medium settings, doesn't have to be perfectly good-looking, but also not 640x480 in very lowest details...
Other specs of my machine are C2D T5800, 2GB Ram.
Thank you!
Tobi

the original fear would work
-
no it wont it ran on low on my 6150 go
-
And the 4500MHD is way stronger than the Go 6150.
Half-Life 2 should work. -
Have you played any of the Burnout series for PC, the first one ran awesome on my N10J 9300M GS with atom, and runs great on my Compaq notebook with the 8200m so it should play that game well with the 4500
-
try cs source it should work with maxxed graphics
-
well as you know it is low end video card
i dont know which games can work but the normal Farcry can work i think... -
Far Cry one should work, FEAR 1 should work, Defense Grid Works, CSS works, L4D may work, but just barely (Trying to remember what card I used while playing, I think it was the Intel but I may have switched beforehand for some reason). Need For Speed Most Wanted May work.

max payne, no one lives forever 1 and 2, all the serious sam games except maybe the latest one, that might run on low settings
GTA 3 and san andreas, (low-medium), age of empires II
sins of a solar empire, tomb raider series,
with the newer games, you can play them quite well if u turn of anisotropic and antialiasing
theres a lot of decent games you can play on it. its not like the days of the GMA950 where only the most rudimentary games would run. so its pretty good for the casual gamer, and saves money as well, cos you can get older games dirt cheap on ebay
im not sure, but my friend tells me splinter cell works on low/medium -
If you're into MMORPG's at all, I'd suggest Runes of Magic beta (really big world with more NPC's than I've ever seen in a free MMO besides Runescape). The graphics are pretty good but I'm sure they'll scale well on a 4500MHD.

Hi,
thank you for your suggestions!
I found one problem with older games: Some are not compatible with Vista. After I had World Racing 2 installed, which includes those crappy copy protection drivers, I had some problems with my system, taskbar Icons missing, one time a weird error message... Since I removed the game and the copy protection drivers, everything seems fine again. I can't tell 100% if the problems were caused by the drivers or it was only a coincidence, but I assume it had to do with hte drivers. So, I'll do a backup before I install any other games Have Far Cry lying around here, but I also read about possible problems with Vista...
Cheers,
Tobi -
Just be sure to update far cry with the cumulative patch(1.4 i think) then you should have no problems running it on medium settings at a lower res.
Other suggestions:
Battlefield 2: Med - High
Hitman series: Medium and up(for older ones)
Splinter cell: Low - Medium
Bioshock: Low(maybe some lag)
Oblivion: Low
Morrowind: Maxed
Civ4: Low-Med
Vietcong(the first one): High
Tomb raider: anniversary: Low - Med -
Hey guys it would be really helpfull for me if u guys could point out the games that can be loaded on my graphic card.. thanks!
-
Well maybe you should post which graphics card you have then, rather than the chipset.
Also - what types of games?
Try tetris if you can find it - runs on much much less too.
(Linux has it "natively" - also an Opera add on)
If people are supposed to help - give details. -
sorry man.. my pc specs are:
i have a dell d630 my specs are
CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7250 @2.0 GHZ
GPU:Mobile Intel 965 express chipset
RAM:1024
Display: 1440x900
the games im hopping for are Battlefield 2 and 2142, cryisis, Fear 1 or 2, Nfs carbon and undercover. -
Crysis - from what I have heard, no way...
Still - the X3100 isn't that bad...
I suppose older games would be a good idea.
Also, try something more CPU heavy - but wait for other replays. -
so worth giving battlfields and fear a try?
-
Battlefield 2 will run on low-medium settings. Not 100% but the older NFS games might be playable on lower settings. The rest probably won't run with much more than 15 fps at the lowest settings.
You could also try older games like the grand theft auto series(not gta4!), far cry(1), halo(1), Half life 2 etc. -
Pentium 4 3.2 GHz
1 Gig RAM
128 mb Radeon X300 (I know, its awful)
I don't know how the intel 965 compares to my graphics card, but I doubt that it can be worse even as an integrated card.
I can run Battlefield 2 and NFS carbon at decent settings. Very playable.
For undercover, I had to turn almost everything to low and there were some graphic artifacts. After a thorough defrag, though, the artifacts almost all dissapeared and I maybe got ~15-25 fps which is playable
@OP
Some decent games that should work at around medium settings for you:
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
Company of Heroes
World in Conflict
Dawn of War + Expansions
Neverwinter Nights 2 + Expansions
Knights of the Old Republic 2 -
World of Conflict was played on my SZ on my 8400GS - it was doing fine - the X3100 is weaker than the 8400GS though...
-
hey guys while playing fear i get 55-60 fps but then at this exact place the game crashes.. its the first level when the dude hits us with a plank and we get up and go back to the dead man on the chair?? any ideas why??

for lighter games:
NFS Most Wanted can run 1024x768 with a bit of fps drops at times. will run 640x480 with max settings nicely.
Command & Conquer
CNC3 Tiberium Wars and Generals can run. CNC3 is best run at native res (strange) rather than lower res. Generals can run at High Settings with 1024x768. (which is cool yeah)
MMORPGS like CABAL (i tried this one) or WoW run nicely. WoW can average 60fps (lovely) on default settings. just disable V-Sync. CABAL will run well with default settings, although at high detail areas it will lag slightly.
FPS. I haven't tried all those famous ones like left4dead or crysis. But i play Alien Arena 2009 (using Quake engine) and it runs on lowest settings smoothly. -
Some of the more recent games optimized for GMA 4500MHD are:
-Demigod
-Empire Earth: Total War
-Sacred 2: Fallen Angel
-Spore
-Warhammer Online
I hear Blizzard also worked Intel to optimize Diablo 3, but couldn't really get if it was this gen or the next. But since they use similar architectures it might just mean it would play at lower settings.
(BTW optimized means it won't run horrible, but probably playable at lower settings)
