What are some mindless new games (no puzzle games please) that will run well on Intel HD3000? Any recommendations are welcome

Check this one out, it's one of my favorite childhood games. Should run good on Intel HD Graphics
Gunbound
Nostalgia, man... -
You could also try getting an emulator for N64 games, that should also run fine on intel iGPU
-
HD3000 is underestimated, I just beat Bioshock Infinite on it and believe I generally got 30 fps.

I remember downloading MAME games before (loved KoF)... Do we still need emulators for those or are these Chrome apps already?

I played some arcade games, dug out the PS2, and played some Tekken. Nothing seems to be that interesting. Played Doom 3 again, didn't like it

Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Oblivion, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (& The Sith Lords) - that's what I have tried and run well (720p or better). You might want to check this out:

In the last year or so the intel drivers have become fairly competent.. so you can run older games more easily without artefacts and distortion and so on. Entire open/"kind of crossover linux/windows" driver project has matured a lot too.. So games running well under wine, or ports of windows games, just like Mac versions of games, that rely on some of the same interfaces being supported -- are turning up as a rule, since generally there are are no special fixes or workaround for the igps, or particular features the intel cards don't support, etc.
New games tend to run perfectly fine if you turn the detail down far enough (with some extremely few exceptions). Or, you don't get that "max 8 frames, because z-buffering has to be simulated in software" thing now. -
Intel HD 3000. With I7-2670qm in my machine can run stutter free: Team Fortress 2 (and any source based game), older Call of Duty 1-2-4, Need For Speed games before Shift, GTA San Andreas, Quake 4, DOOM3, Warhammer, CoH... and so much more. Not at max graphics but at 720p. Love to game on battery while traveling.

Check out a game called Warframe, maybe it'll run. I have an intel 4000 igpu so i'll try to see what it runs and get back at ya

You can try vizzed.com for all the emulator stuff, plays right in the browser after you download a plugin.
As for traditional games I'm a big fan of Orcs must Die 2, it's a a fun action strategy game, and it's pretty cheap when it goes on sale. -
upgrademonkey Company Representative
minesweeper ..... and simcity 5 should be ok with lowest setting , tested
-
any games depending more an cpu then gfx! A lot of RTS games like C&C etc should be playable.
-
-
Also worth mentioning, you can play League of Legends with no problems on an HD3000. It's a nice fun little game worth checking out.
-
You should be able to play diablo 3 at low detail.

Torchlight I and II work well enough. They can be mindless. Civ IV on settler is almost mindless, might want to try that.
