    Hello, all.

Prior to my getting a new MSI GT70 with Windows 7, I was able to log in to Games for Windows Live without any issues (Flatout 2, Batman, Dirt 2, etc). However, with my new MSI Windows 7 PC, I continue to get an error:

The profile could not be signed in to Live. There may be a network problem or the Windows Live ID service may not be available.

I can log in to my xbox fine and if i go to xbox.com, I can also log in.

Does anyone know of some settings on the PC that I may need to change in order to use this feature? Anything Windows 7 specific?

    Thanks.

I don't believe any settings on your PC... I do remember that they have offline profiles, and mah w the settings are messed up for you? I personally have had terrible experience with GFWL, it always crashes and demands to be updated, then refuses to download the update it finds.

    Thanks.

I have an old Gateway Gaming PC with Vista and did not have any issues. I kept reading that it may be my router, but I am guessing it is not since the Gateway seems to log in to my account just fine.

    Thanks again.

The laptop isn't really new, your laptop is like getting a car in 2012 with lets say instead diesel lets say is the cpu and lets say your gpu makes it the 2010 shape car when the latest 2012 model has come out and weighs kg's less and has all the latest features and does far better mpg because of it.

A gtx 670m takes 20w more then a 7970m and is less then half the performance.

I went through gfwl hell about 3 weeks ago. Same scenario except mine went from working fine to unable to log in on the same laptop, same win install, same games etc...

Uninstalling the software, reinstalling the latest version from here...
Download the Games for Windows Client | PC Games Client - Xbox.com
And performing the setup allowed me to run marketplace on my desktop. I then had to use the "remove all software" option in marketplace, and then reinstall it yet again.

    After that it worked.

I cannot stress enough my hatred for gfwl.

To anyone who cannot log into GFWL, are you running a firewall?

If so, it needs very specific ports and if one is not permited, then you will never be able to log in. That's what I found anyway.
