The Witcher immediately comes to mind, purely single player with no multiplayer component and runs on my system alright.

call of duty 4 and bioshock. call of duty 4 technically has a multiplayer component, but the single player is good enough to warrant a purchase on its own. bioshock is single player only.

both are excellent 5 star games.

4/5ths of the orange box (TF2 is multiplayer, but you will live happily with the other 4 games' single player

CoD4, Bioshock, if you aren't into shooters then i guess any RTS out there will work, and sims are always classic.....

Colin Mcrae Dirt is also a nice game. The Need for Speed series and GTA: San Andreas also comes to mind. All are mainly single player, with a bit of multiplayer.

get oblivion, if u put the textures down slightly you could probably get it onto the native resolution (1440 x 900), and it looks stunning, and gets an easy 80hours gameplay (ive played several times this thought as i am sad)

and lol good luck with crysis ;)

i tried running it on a 8600 once...

    boy that was fun :)

Hey I had fun with crysis on a x1600 with a turion 2.0 processor and 1gig of ram. Yea everything low, but it ran well enough for me to play it.

O and back to the games Company of Heroes and Orange box, because you can get tons of mods for the source engine.

If you are into turn based strategy, Civ4 isn't too taxing and is an amazingly addicting single layer game.
