Hello, recently my computer is locking/freezing more frequently (100%) than before. I play on a laptop and it is not the best but is bareable. Games like Team Fortress 2 use to run fine, it would jitter a couple of times maybe freeze once in a week but now it would freeze/lock up everytime i try to run it and the only way is to cold reboot. The games would run fine for a few minutes (like 10 min the most then just lock up).

I believe it is a sound issue because the sound is integrated and plus usually the sound would stutter, for example if an AWP was shot in Counter Strike Source, my comptuer would jitter. Is there a way to set the sound to less priority? irq or something...

I already did a checkdisk and defrag and my laptop is not overheating. Any other advice that I could test.

I am running the games on WinXP, AMD 4000, ati x600 128 mb

Most of the times it`s the drivers, but could also be your memory. Run memtest86 for a few hours to test your ram sticks,it`s beter if you do it individually.
Also, consider upgrading to the latest drivers from laptopvideo2go.com , preferably from the 174.x series.
Also, you mentioned it`s not overheating, but what temps are you getting? and is it OCed?

hmm maybe it is overheating. The drivers i am using are Omegas, the thing is i never had trouble running Team Fortress 2 or Counter Strike Source til now. It usually freezes when a new round starts and I spawn (could be any round, usually like 2-10minutes in the game). My laptop is underclocked and i tried putting it back to regular and still same thing. Is there a program i can get to get GPU temps? I tried ATITOOLS but that doesnt read it probably cause my card is garbage and integrated haha
