Hello,
I have tried running many games and benchmarks on my laptop with nvidia optimus. So far none of them have high FPS. The nvidia card seems to be not running the games, but instead they are using the intel hd 4000.
I heard alot of people saying "just change the settings to run Nvidia gpu", but that has not helped me. i also heard to reinstall windows, which i really really do not want to do.
any fix's with the optimus bug?
my gaming laptop does not game.....

Have you tried the included picture?
Also, you can right-click on the game (Diablo3.exe or whatever) and go to "Run with graphics processor" then Nvidia.
If it still says that it's using the integrated graphics, just try playing the game on high settings and high resolution, if you're getting good fps, then you're probably using the discrete GPU anyway.
Also check your power settings to make sure you're in High performance. -
oh yeah, i tried the profile and global settings along with the right click. Nothing. the graphics are really poor too. I know for a fact the graphics card would never render the game like it is.
-
What GPU do you have?
-
i have the 675mx
i have also noticed that the core clock is not running as high as it should when it does finally run the game with the gpu. -
Hum thats really strange. 675MX would have no problems with Diablo 3.
Have you tried different drivers? -
i will uninstall drivers soon then reinstall and see if that works
-
You might also try checking that your integrated GPU and chipset drivers are both uptodate.

I reinstalled my Intel hd 4000 and nvidia driver. Still has the exact same issue, i right clicked diablo 3 exe and had it run with nvidia GPU. Diablo 3 game me the "intel hd 4000 low performance" bla bla bla.
I has happened on more than one game, i dont understand why my computer is not running it on my graphics card. -
Not related to Optimus exactly, but concerning the clock speed issue you mentioned, you are plugged into the ac adapter correct for power? My 660m runs TERRIBLE on battery while gaming.
As for Optimus, can only think a hardware or driver problem, this is not a wide spread issue with Optimus I read much about... usually once you tell it to run for each game, it works great. -
Well I have have added the game under the profile in the driver to run the nvidia graphics card and i right clicked to run on the nvidia graphics card. Yet all the games have around 15fps and look terrible, as if they were running on the 4000hd
-
i sent the computer back to ibuypower to look at it. I bet it would run better if i reinstalled windows.
-
did you troubleshoot your power plan/s? can we assume that you were plugged in all along too?
Sent from my PI39100 using Board Express -
and was it running on high performance?

I'm having the exact same issue with my laptop except it's an nvidia geforce 650m.
It can barely run starcraft 2 on the lowest possible settings. It gets about 60fps when there's little to no action and about 1 fps when there's a large battle.
Anyone have any success with this yet? I did notice that when the FPS gets BELOW 1 per second (perhaps around 1 per 3 seconds) it switches to the geforce 650m and in that same situation I get about 20 fps. Then, after about 10 seconds of tolerable FPS, it switches back to the hd 4000 and all it's 1 fps glory.
I have tried everything in this topic except for mailing it back to the supplier/manufacturer. -
Having the same issue. I have an Nvidia Geforce 450m.

I would go into nVidia control panel and choose game to use nVidia card from there. Right click and use specific video card can be flaky.
And yes also make sure your power profile is set to Mac performance and you're plugged in.
