Ive read a lot of the messages and reviews on this machine that clearly warn the 700m is not a gaming machine. I definitely am one who prefers mobility over the ability to play the latest games.

Having issued that disclaimer, I am wondering if anyone is out there who owns this machine and can tell me if it runs some of my older favorites like star trek armada, star trek elite force, maybe even jedi academy?

    Thanks

I don't know for sure, but would think so, on low settings. I've run UT 2004 on a lesser machine.

Thanks for your help. I ordered it this morning before the $750 off deal expired. Looks like a great machine even if only for work and playing DVDs on the road. I will post my results with these games when I receive it.

I received my Dell 700m. Having played with it for a while now I can report the following:

I have learned I am not a "gamer"

I respect the opinions of all who have written about the graphics issued with integrated chips, however, my Dell is playing the games I have beautifully.

There are definitely games out there right now and coming in the future which my notebook will not be able to handle. But given its relatively compact size and low price, I am amazed at how well my games are playing.

    My system:

    Dell 700m
    2.0 Ghz Pentium M
    512 MB RAM
    DVD-/+RW
    80 GB Hard drive
Intel Integrated graphics 64 MB 855GME

I have installed and played Star Trek Elite Force I & II, Jedi Academy, Star Trek Armada I & II, and KOTOR (original). All work beautifully without any adjustments to the computer or need to download new drivers.

The only problem I have noticed is the built in speakers sound a little funny at times with these games, but they sound fine with my headphones plugged in.

One exmaple of the limits of this machine however is that KOTOR II will not run [|)]
