I was wondering if there are any newer releases or upcoming releases of games similar to RoN. I know there is one game coming out that is a RTS about the US vs. Russia in a Cold War battle but the name slips my mind.

Any suggestions would be great because I'm starting to get very bored with my current game selection, mostly from 2002-2004.

If you want something futuristic, try Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War or Supreme Commander. A popular WWII RTS is Company of Heroes.

I have Empire Earth II, but never really got into it, maybe I'll give it another try.

Personally, I much prefer Empire Earth the original than the 2nd one. There are just so many restrictions and limits that are set in EE2, which drives me nuts. Hope EE3 will be better! For me, EE1 is simply pure fun despite unbalance issues.

Rise of legends is already out. It is the sequel.

    Empire earth games never end
There is a balance issue with that game.

I assume you've played Age of Empires I & II. If not, you should; they're classics. :)

    And cheap. :D

oh ya lord of the rings battle for middle earth is the standard bearer. PRobably the best one i ever played.
Not that there is anything different, its just the production values exceed anything. Very well made with lots of details.

The Cold War RTS that you mentioned that is coming out (well, not until the summer or fall) is World in Conflict. Company of Heroes is a very good RTS that is already out however.

My children and I are avid PC gamers, and RTS fans in particular. Some of our favourites are as follows:

    - World of Warcraft: Reign of Chaos & Frozen Throne
    - Company of Heroes
    - Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War / Winter Assault / Dark Crusade
    - Command & Conquer: Generals / Zero Hour / Tiberium Wars
    - Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends
    - Act of War
    - Medieval II: Total War
    - Warhammer Mark of Chaos
    - Earth 2160
    - Anno 1701
    - SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars
    - Supreme Commander
    - Rise & Fall
    - Rush for Berlin
    - Titan Quest
    - The Battle for Middle-Earth / The Rise of the Witch-King

Hope that gives you a few more ideas.
