Article detailing some exclusive PC games in the past few years and some upcoming ones.
PC gaming isn't dying, just transforming - scurvy pirates notwithstanding.
PC exclusives that should be experienced High-Tech Monster

Diablo III isn't a PC exclusive.

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
However do you want to play it on a console and would it be good on a console than it should on a PC? -
I have heard a rumor that Blizzard might be bringing in a PS3 specialist to work with some of the game assets. This is hardly proof that we will see a console version.
There very well could be one in the horizon but as of right now I would say that it is a PC exclusive. -

That's what you took from the article???

Pretty solid list overall, though I haven't played everything on it. I'm glad they gave the Unreal Tournament games a mention; those were some of the genre-defining FPS games when I was growing up, and UT2k4 is still one of my favorites of all time. And they could have been listed; UT3 was the only one that wasn't PC exclusive, and nobody likes that one anyway
I'm a bit surprised to see Star Wars: The Old Republic on that list, seeing as it's not out yet and nobody really knows if it'll be as awesome as it's claimed to be.
There are a few other games that probably should have made the list (the Quake and Doom series come to mind), but I get that this is mostly focused on newer titles. -
Don't forget actual combat simulations like ArmA (ArmA 2 was on Xbox 360 though), DCS A-10, Wings of Prey. RTS and simulations just don't translate to consoles well at all. It disturbs me when people refer to games like Ace Combat as a simulation. That's like calling Mario Kart a driver training tool.
And I could also list a bunch of older titles that were PC exclusive or the series started as PC only. -
no counter strike in the list?
-
Arma II is actually a great example of a game that works well on the PC. Compare it to Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and you get a good idea of what shooter sim ends up like on the consoles.
The only problem with Arma II is its ungodly system requirements. -
Why no Counter Strike. Happy that they mentioned the C&C series, those games do not get as much respect as the original Starcraft even though they were genre defining.
-
Right. C&C came out about same time as Warcraft I & II. Even though I enjoyed Warcraft, I enjoyed C&C much more. And also developed by the same team that came out with Dune II several years prior. I'd really give Westwood and C&C the medal of RTS inception as we know it today, rather than Blizzard.
-
Dune 2 can be in way called the first RTS, it was literally genre defining. RTS was not even a genre before Dune 2, yet Westwood never gets as much credit as Blizzard. As you said, Westwood helped bring about the inception of RTS genre, but it hardly gets the credit it should. Also C&C Tiberium Dawn was the first RTS with competitive multiplayer .
-
What about red alert 2? I miss that game!
-
The whole series(barring the last 2 ie Red Alert 3 and C&C 4) are superb.
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Man no mention of Call of Duty series.
-
Actually Call of Duty 2 was not that bad and it was a pc exclusive
-
Call of Duty 2 was an Xbox 360 launch title if I remember correctly. The 360 version actually featured better graphics than the PC counterpart.
-
The console version was called Call Of Duty 2 The Big Red One, it was developed by Treyarch as opposed to the Infinity ward developed Call of Duty 2. Though Call of Duty 2 was released on the XBox 360 when it was launched a month after the launch of the game, but that was cause Xbox 360 was a new gen console and thus had respectable graphics.
-
Funny, I'd have guessed he was talking about released games and not a few to be released (D3, SW:TOR).
Also, as far as we know SW:TOR has been only hyped, but we have yet to get a better glimpse of the game overall before giving it a thumbs up. -

To me, that's what makes this list sort of invalid. What happens if TOR ends up like Galaxies instead of KotOR? -
I wouldn't be that though since its the only wrong input in the list, all other games are very good. And we know that D3 will be at least D2 in 3D (I mean, look at SC 2 vs SC), thus meaning it will be well regarded for us who have some memories of the good ol' Diablo 2.
-
Arma 2 never made it to the xbox 360.
-
Dident Star Wars Galaxies get patched to death by SOE?
-
STTOR could turn out to suck but according to beta testers it's looking pretty good. Now of course its longevity in the market is another deal, but from what I've read many WoW players are jumping ship or are looking to jump ship and SWTOR could be a good alternative.
-
i was surprised of lack 3d action as well.
Crysis? multiplayer is kinda poor and MP is what makes 3d action on pc so enjoyable, precision and stuff. -
Well, i heard Kotic got Blizzard by the b***s. D:
Hide yo monies cuz Kotic wantz it. -
yeah, I mean they put crysis on the list simply because of their looks... and no cs? not even mention of half life?(epic series).
-
I'm sorry, what?.... No counter strike? What is this list if it doesn't have CS? It's basically THE PC FPS that every other aspires to be. Just look at the steam statistics, it has pretty much double the amount of players that any other game on PC has.
Lack of half life is a little odd too given that it's generated one of the biggest game cults to ever grace FPS. -
shogun 2 and the rest of the tw war series.
theres just no way a console could play a game that complex in the next five years or so. -
yes, thats why I mentioned half life, cuz appart from being a terrific game and series on its own, it also runs the engine of which cs borrowed, and well, the lack of cs on that list makes it some sort of joke, also css is an old game already and still has a lot of players, now cs 1.6 is what over a decade old and still got players its ridiculous....
Games that PC gamers should be proud of
