gaming/hardware question. Which games best utilize the CPU. Or in other words, what aspects of games does the cpu take care of and what specific games utilizes this to the nth degree.

Lower the resolution as much as you can and any game will be heavily dependent on the cpu then.

still only runs 2 cores of my quad. but boy is it CPU dependent. I get like 13 fps with my desktop at 1920x1200. single GPU or SLI doesn't matter, leaving it the CPU as the weak point.

Currently, the Unreal Engine 3 games are extremely well-coded and fully takes advantage of multi-core CPUs.
    - Bioshock
    - Unreal Tournament 3
    - Gears of War

I've been playing World in Conflict quite a bit... guessing that's CPU intensive.

You will know which game is CPU intensive by monitoring the CPU temp and charts while doing gaming...

Bioshock, UT3, and C&C3 gave me the highest temps and usage.

Crysis was pathetic and could not even fully utilize my CPU.

    Question

What happens when games are CPU intensive?
Does that mean that they will still play fine even without a powerful graphics card?

no, it means they wont play any better with a more powerful GPU unless you pair it with an even more powerful CPU.
