    Hi all

    Im a total newbie to modern pc gaming and currently stumbling through GTA IV and Assassin's Creed. As I watched yet another third person view of my male character last night I wondered whether there were any games where you have the option to choose a female rather than male lead?

    Max Payne 2.... playing as the sexy Mona... 3rd person.

    Oblivion is quite good though.... for RPG.

    Most RPGs will have a female character for use.

    Fallout 1 and 2 allow you to play as female. Furthermore, the game is different (for example you can sleep with men to get money, or flirt with some powerful men to do things your way).

    Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 allow you to play as either male or female characters. The protagonist in Beyond Good and Evil is female and most of the game is spent playing as her.

    The version from gog.com runs in my Vista 32-bit, so it should at least work in 64 bit using compatibility mode.

    You can play as a girl in Saints Row 2 PC or if you want a laugh play as a guy with a woman's voice haha.

    And yeah, L4D, I suppose. Also, pretty much any big rts has a character selection screen that lets you play as a woman.

    On a side note, if you haven't played Portal already, pick it up.

    Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2. I actually play as a female avatar on those games even though I'm a guy. I did it on the 360 versions too when I still gamed on a 360. It was great seeing all those pig headed jerks freak out that "girl" was beating their asses :D But yeah I play as woman in the PC versions as well as of current.

    Crysis lets you select a woman's voice for your character. I don't think that the actual character's looks change, though.

    They are all male unfortunately, but you do have some really cool female mercenary buddies. Michelle (the blond headed French one) is my favorite, because she's all for eliminating the groups that continue to ravage the country and it's people. She's my favorite character by far and most certainly my most trusted and bonded buddy in the game so far.

    There are a couple women in Demigod.

    If you play Eldar in Dawn of War II, you can control female units. I don't think the humans (or specifically the Blood Ravens) allow women to fight. At least in the Halo Universe there were female Spartans. :p
