I'm looking at getting the Dell 9300 with the P-M740 1.73GHz with the Go6800 card and 1GB of RAM. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to notebooks and I'm wondering if the processor speed is going to keep me from playing certain games or if the 1.73GHz will be sufficient or will the P-M750 make that much of a difference to spend the extra $150?
I'm pretty much at my budget and don't want to spend more money

Pentium M's are the equivalent of much higher powered Pentium processors. So, 1.73ghz should run just about anything without any hitches. (If I'm wrong, someone please correct me)

You are correct. The 1.73GHz P-M (740) is roughly equivalent to a 3.2 GHz Pentium 4. So you will easily be able to run anything on the market today, and for several months to come, at full or near-full graphics. Besides, the graphics card and RAM are both FAR more important than processor when it comes to 3D gaming.

axelrd is right, Pentium M's are zippy, and people often misjudge due to their clock speed.

Use 1.8 as a multiplier to compare the Pentium M to a Pentium 4.

In games, the Video Card is the bottleneck. The 6800 is the 2nd best GPU in the market, so you'll breeze through games

The processor is not very important when it comes to gaming (of course you dont want a celeron or sempron), the GPU is much more important.

    I play on a 1.6GHz Turion and I don't have any problems.

Wow, thanks for the answers everyone! That's the last thing I need to know. I'm glad I found this website, without it I would have been completely lost. This forum has been a huge help.
