    If anyone has purchased a new MBP, please let us know what kind of frame rate you are getting at 2880x1800, especially running Windows games on bootcamp, and the graphics settings you are using for the game.

    There was a recent Anandtech article with some benchmarks, but he only mentioned running two games at 2880x1800, Half Life 2 (42 fps) and Diablo 3 (18 fps on High).

    I'm considering picking one up primarily because of the display, but if I can't run any recent games at 2880x1800 with playable frame rate (at least with lower settings), then I'd rather go with something like a dv6t or Envy 15.

    you won't be able to run recent AAA game titles in 2880x1800 and playable frame rates on the GT 650m. you'll have to get something else.

    Thanks!

    I've noticed Anandtech reported 18fps on high for D3, and asdad123 reports 23fps on "Gamer" settings for Crysis 2 at this res. Perhaps with AA disabled or shadow quality reduced, etc, it might be playable?

    I'm just looking for at least 25-30 fps @1800p for games like Skyrim, ME3, Arma2, DXHR, Dishonored, perhaps with lower draw distance, shadow quality, etc., MSAA disabled and using FXAA instead.

    Well then you'll need a high-end desktop GPU for that.

    Do you understand how incredibly high 2880x1800 is? Desktop gamers are just getting comfortable at 2560x1600, with GPUs 4 or 5 times as powerful as the GT 650M.

    The 650M is simply a sad joke at 1800p. It's a card built for medium/high settings at 1920x1080.

    2880x1800 = 5,184,000
    1920x1080 = 2,073,600

    Do the math.

    Its just too many pixels. The cool thing about the rmbp is that lower 3D resolutions should still look good on the screen

    Find a mobile GPU that ISN'T a freaking joke on 1800p.. seriously too early for Retina, but hell with it, someone's gotta do it

    That's what I'd like to see, how non native resolutions look. You should be able to play 1440x900 since it's half resolution, and the pixel density is so high.

    TRU? TRA?
    I'm more interested in affordable IPS, at least right now.

    What is TRU and TRA? Which settings were you using for Arkham City? Did you disable AA?
