What is the real gaming difference between Nvidia 965M, 970M, 980M? If the games I play are Witcher, Pilars of eternity and Sin of which I own. I don't MMORPG, or COD or similiar. Would GPU memory matter?

980m is very powerful. 970m is around 20% less powerful, and the 965m is another 15% step down. For the Witcher 3 you would want the 980m. The 965m would not be great for it, and the 970m could run it but with a bunch of lowered settings. VRAM 4GB is enough for 1080p for now. 8GB 980ms are nice but usually not needed without huge mods.

970M is between 20-30% slower than the 980M and the 965M is another 15-20% down I'd say.

I agree that you want nothing less than a 980M for Witcher 3... Even a 980M SLI rig like mine can't max that game (without Gameworks) all the time.

Agreed, specially with witcher 3. Such a beautiful game takes a toll on your system, so if you are interested in high performance of those kinds of games, you are best off with the caliber of a 980m.

OK thanks for the info now I have to plan for such a purchase. I see if my finances will go for it next year after tax time.

    Explain.

    This does not compute.

A single 980Ti maintains near 60fps at max at 1080p... you should get better performance than a single 980Ti.

I thought Ethrem mentioned with gameworks on. I get between 60 and 80 fps without gameworks. I'd say an average of about 70s. I usually play with gameworks on but no AA and on low preset, to keep 60fps most of the time, with very very small drops here and there.

Even WITH gameworks you should be able to max it and get ~60fps.

In most places, not all. There were dips down into the lower 50s last I played but it's been patched a few times since then so who knows now.

Personally, I would go with the Sager. It has newer technology, and is a better all around system.

CyberpowerPC has some of the WORST reviews I've seen... I would stay far away personally. They've never had a good reputation.....

ok, are there another system I should look at as well? Is Asus or MSI system good? Don't want the mechanical keyboard of the 18" MSI if I want mechanical keyboard I'll get it separately.

There are numerous resellers that manage Asus, MSI and Sager so you can pick up your favourite system there.

If the Titan from MSI is not of your liking, I'd say the GT72 is one of the better machines. Get the 6820HK with 980m.

I personally think Sager almost always gives you the best bang for your buck but look up Sager resellers, never order from Sager directly.

I get drops to 45 in a particular location between forests, with everything on except no AA in hariworks, just enabled and high. Most of the time it does hit 60fps.

Its the forests that kill me too but I'm not aware of any dips under 50 after the first few patches. I'm too lazy to install it right now. I'm enjoying driver stability on 347.88.

Guys keep it real and in perspective for the others. Witcher 3 runs perfectly well on 970m and is playable with most of the settings on, yes not maxed, but if you want to game on the go 970m is already capable to do so in a smaller and cheaper package. If you are considering MSI Titan or that size of a notebook then it is of course your call mobility vs power.
And in terms of future proofing I am thinking that since both the ps4 and xbox have weaker cards in them than the 965 970 and 980 all games for the upcomming 2-3 years will be playable on 1080p with those cards. Yes not maxed but definately playable mostly in higher setings.

I run the Witcher 3 on 970M with high setting and nvidia hair turned off 1080p at 40 fps. It can reach 50 60 sometimes but I don't know when. Probably outside fighting monsters. Get a machine with G-sync if you have the 970M so it might help.

Personally, I don't think GPU memory matters, at least at 1080p. I play the Witcher 3 and mostly see it only uses like less than 1GB (2GB actually). If you want to play at higher resolution, then it's another story, but thing is, you'll have to lower your settings. And the Witcher visual mod I mostly light mod (and nude mod) so it might not be a performance hit. Plus I see many of them have not been updated after new patch so installing a bunch of mods isn't a good idea.

Except you're forgetting that not all current-gen console games are 1080p, and some can't even hold a steady 30 FPS.

well, given the characters' bodies are pretty 'clean' so it might be less detail than an armor or clothes so it might help. Gotta try Geralt shirt(armor)less tho.

Ah yes, au naturel. That'd be some Crysis 2 invisible tessellated water type sabotage by Nvidia. Tessellating hair that you normally don't see unless you liberated the characters of their garments to screw perf on AMD cards.
