Pretty interesting article about how Microsoft is gearing Vista toward gaming. Worth a nice read.

Yes, as far as I'm concerned, DirectX 10 and the games-related stuff is the only reason I have to eventually upgrade to Vista. Unfortunately, most of the rest of Vista provides equally good reasons why I shouldn't upgrade. I just hope DirectX 9 will still be supported in a few years time, because I doubt I'll upgrade before then. (Maybe, if we're really lucky they'll do like with XP and release 3 different OS'es in quick succession, like ME, 2000, XP)
If so, the last one might be worth using for more than just games.

I'm looking forward to this myself. We'll truly be able to see who can dominate in FPS titles - those with mice/keyboards or those with controllers.

multi-console games are the coolest, especially the ability to play online cross-platform.

Actually, there are several good reasons to upgrade to Vista. But I'm not gonna go into that in this thread...
Yeah, that would be really cool. Microsoft is stepping up their Windows/Xbox360 linking with this, Media Center extension, and the ability to use all of the 360s wireless peripherals with your computer. It almost makes me wanna buy a 360. -
Depends on your needs and preferences, doesn't it?
Ok, for me, the gaming bits are about the only feature of Vista that sounds at all attractive. -

All the dumb crap microsoft is doing with Vista is a huge turn off for me. The only reason I'll even consider upgrading is the games. The posibilities for that seem very nice. Otherwise I think I'll be swiching to Linux.

Having the 360 is one of the reasons why I got rid of my desktop in favor of my notebook. The desktop system was far more powerful from a gaming standpoint, but the only game I was really playing on it was Half-Life 2 and some older titles that a 7600 Go has no trouble running. The 360 has some pretty great games, with a lot more to come. That it also plays nicely with a Media Center PC is a nice bonus as well. -
i'd like to use the 360 controller for NFS MW. i really hate the keyboard interface
