    So I have a Lenovo X61 Tablet.

    L7700 1.8 GHz
    X3100 video card
2 gb ram on 1 dimm slot

    1. Is there a temperature sensor on the X3100?

    2. If so, what is the safe operating temperature?

    3. And does gaming on a laptop drastically cut down on the life expectancy?

Whew! I thought the subject was pertaining to human life expectancy.

I can continue to play games then. Thanks for the mild cardiac. ;)

From what I read last time, the answer is yes but normally people wont be keeping their notebook that long to notice the effect (~10 years?). Hopefully people that's more knowledgeable than me could give you a more accurate answer.

    Same here LULZ

First time came across my mind was "OMG, im gonna die early?" lol

same with Nic. Anything that you do a with your laptop will decrease the life expectancy, but wont be enough to notice it (im talking like 10-15 years)

    So did I, so did I.. :p

Again.. it's only logical. I mean you are pretty much sitting in front of your comp shooting up pixels, when you could be out playing some real games.. So yeah.. you are calling for an earlier death.. :D

    1. I assume so

    2. It should never go over 80C, it should stay around the 50C mark, maybe a little more

    3. Drastically, no

Gaming on that GPU would be no more intensive on the overall system than watching an HD movie, or doing browsing the web with multiple pages open and having vista Aero on. Drastically decrease the life? definately not, gaming doesn't do anything different to your PC than any other software wont do. Some games might run all of your system components to their limits, but that's what they were designed to do in the first place. I'd be more worried how you carry or handle the notebook, or how much pressure is placed on the palmrest over time, or that the screen or CD drive might break than the components failing because of normal use. If you overclock, then you have reason to worry because that can drastically lower the lifetime of the notebook, possibly (<1-2 years). Don't let the exhaust/intake areas get caked up with dust and you have nothing to worry about.
