MSI GT780 is the best bang for the dollar IMO right now with the GTX 570 and all the CPU power he needs with tons of ram and HDD. Good LCD which is upgradable and all the essential ports he would want. And of course among the best free/standard warranty available.

    Then only one choice.

A minimal Sager from Xotic or PowerNotebooks right now. You get a GX560M with 8gb of ram and 2670 CPU for about $1250.

I would suggest an Asus G74 from Best Buy, but... it's gimped 128bit bus on the GTX 560M. Unfortunate since the cooling system on Asus is second to none, cool and the quietest on the market right now.

If you don't mind the bulkiness of most gaming laptops, Id suggest asus.
But if you prefer a slimer body, sleek enough looks for a business meeting, as well as good gaming performance, look into HP Quad edition dv6t or dv7t.

With coupon you can get a quad core 2ghz, 6770m ati for around 9 bills AFTER tax and shipping.

^^ Sager / Cleveo above = prolly best price / power.
I would also check new samsung7 with 6750m, its less powerful but also smaller and better battery life in case your friend needs that.

^^^that is a sweet laptop if I was buying one I would definatly go with the 8150. looks powerful although I have had my problems with sager. last laptop was a 8660 or something like that and I had a few different problems ala being send faulty ram twice and a loose connection from the screen panel and the laptop chasis plus now I have a line going straight threw my screen that I got right after the last time I sent it to sager.

Then just go with a HP DV series then. Save yourself a lot of money, should still be able to play plenty of games.

This. My dv6 can play anything at 1366x768 and some things (MW3 and some older titles) at 1920x1080 on high details.
