So, I'm not into gaming laptops for a past couple of months so i need an advice for buying one, in US, Canada maybe with shipping in US... My last "resort" is this gaming laptop but I'm searching for something cheaper but with better graphic card than nvidia 360gts... This is that Asus one that i've found

    Asus - Laptop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 17.3" Display / 6GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Black - G73JH-RBBX05

Any suggestion for cheaper but good gaming laptop?

    Atm I have Toshiba L500-146 (ATI 4650 1gb gddr3, c2d t6500, 4gb of ram)

You should ask in the what notebook should i buy section and fill out te form in the sticky, you'll probably get more suggestions there.

Both MSI are indeed good gaming laptops.

    MSI GX640 is $1100 15", with Mobility 5850.

If you want a 17", the G73 you linked is your best choice.

Go any cheaper and you'll be looking at poor GPUs. If your goal is something > 360M, at under $900, you won't find it, ever.

I must agree. Can't get much better than the GTX 260M for the price.

Might consider the MSI GE600 which is $899 and has an ATI 5730 w/a 16" 1366x768 LCD, so performance is pretty good. The GX640 has better performance, but the GE600 is quieter, runs cooler, and costs less. It also has switchable gfx so you can switch off the 5730 when you don't need it (extends battery life). That was the deal maker for me.

I just got one and pretty happy so far.

    Good luck!

This really is posted in the wrong forum.

But in any case, unless you want the Asus G72Gx with P8700 and GTX260m, the best you'll find under $900 is going to be a laptop with i5 and HD5650 or 5730.

The good news is, this is a pretty good setup, and there are a lot of them available. Games will play better on the G72, but other laptops might not have the same heating issues and might not be as heavy.

Look for Acers that carry the HD5650, as well as taking a look at the Compal NBLB2 (offered at xoticpc.com as their own "Force" branded laptop). Gateway also has some decent offerings in that price range.

    -Edit-

I just noticed your current setup, and unfortunately, a 5650 or 5730 wouldn't be a very large upgrade over your 4650. Upgrade if you really want something new and better, but keep in mind that anything you can get for $900 is going to be in the same ballpark of gaming performance (although the i5 would be a significant upgrade).

The gaming laptops with GTX 260m are going for fairly cheap, and that is a clear upgrade over a GTS 360m.

I went with Histidine's mention of the G72GX, picked a refurb up off of Amazon for $799. Turns out it was actually a brand new unit Bestbuy returned to "make room" for new Windows 7 equipped machines. Had it almost 2 months now and don't regret it one bit. The P8700/6gig DDR2/GTX 260m tears through most every game I have thrown at it. Haven't tried Crysis yet, bought it, beat it, never played again.

But at that point, why not save up a couple extra hundreds for the $1k G73?

    $800 vs $1200 is a big difference.
