    Hey there!
i am thinking of getting a laptop with the following specs:

    Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 - 1,83 GHz,
    15.4" widescreen WXGA 1280x800,
nVidia G7400 gfx with 256 MB RAM,
HDD 5400 rpm, 80 GB HDD,
    1 GB RAM,
    Bluetooth
    DVD Dual drev,
    wireless LAN.
    up to 3 timers batteritid.
    weight: 2,8 kg.

I wanna play cs:s at a pretty resolution and quality, with no lag.
That's probably the most requiring game I'm gonna play. Maybe company of heroes too.
You think that rig would be able to pull that?

that's really cool, thanks for the answer.
Do you guys think the specs fit each other well? I mean there are no bottleneck like things are there?
I've been thinking if I should get a gforce 7600 instead.. But if I should it would probably be with a 1.60ghz core 2duo CPU, and I think that would be a bottleneck then, and not even give better performance than the one I said at the beginning?
I live in denmark, and many of the premade models are pretty expensive here. Like some ASUS and HP you say something about.. Also I don't know anywhere they sell Compal.. I looked at the HEL80 specs though, they seemed nice.
But anyway if I wanna have pretty nice gaming in cs:s (and maybe company of heroes, possibly C&C 3) on a 15.4", which I also intend to use a lot for studying, then a gforce 7400 and the other specs would do fine, right?

the 7400 will definately be your bottleneck. The processor will not be a bottleneck in either configuration. the core 2 duos are very fast and the difference between 1.6 vs 1.83ghz should not be very noticeable. if you can i would get the 7600 with the 1.6ghz core2duo as that configuration will also allow you to branch out more comfortably to more modern games if you want.

as for CS:S, with my 7600, i play at my native res (1200x800) with all setting s on high with 2x AA and 4x AF and average 80 FPS in the CS:S stress test. The 7400 has roughly half the power of the 7600 and i believe it averages about 40 fps with everything on high at that resolution but without AA.

    hope that helps

The Go7400 will have no problems with CS:S at 1280x800. I had a review laptop with a Go7400 and a 17" WXGA+ display, and I was able to play CS:S at that resolution (1440x900) with medium-high settings. It was a bit choppy, but as soon as I turned the resolution down to 1280x800, it was perfect.

the 7400 is a good card, its fantastic in 12.1" models, but if your getting a 15.4", I would go with a more powerful card, the 7600/7700 and x1600/1700 are all good choices, and will give you much more gaming life than a 7400

The 7400 is capable of handling CS:S without problems.

However, with more advanced games such as Oblivion, FEAR, and the newer games, don't expect it to perform well without lowering settings and the resolution.

For a 15.4" monitor, like Iceman says, try to get a better video card than the 7400 if you want to be gaming on a laptop.

the CPU is the last thing to be the bottleneck if it's a core 2 duo
compared to the 1.6Ghz Merom, the 1.83 is not likely to give you any more fps, but a Go7600/X1600 would do a lot more, most likely let you play at high or max settings

@ 1280x800, the 7400 should run HL2/CS:S @ max settings, and get a smooth framerate. You may have to disable AA and HDR. Company of Heroes should run @ 1280x800, medium settings, with some things like shadows and reflections turned down low.
