A lot of attention seems to be paid to the hardware of a gaming mouse. Thus I find it hard to find detailed reviews about the software that comes with a
    mouse.

My Logitech G9 has served me well. I've worn out the grip and it has got bald spots on several area, like old battle wounds. I've gone through two sets of feet since getting it and I'm reluctant to replace it.

If I do end up replacing it, I have found one defining feature that seems impossible to find on reviews. Granular DPI control.

When I used an Microsoft X8 at a LAN party, I was shocked at the lack of granular DPI settings. IIRC, it only allowed my to go up in 1000s, while I was use to my G9's increments of 100s.

While, I've been tempted to buy a whole bunch of mice and load up the software, then return the ones I don't like, I feel pity for the hourly associate that has to tape up the open boxes and fill out the claims form, stack them on a pallet and send them back to the returns center. I was told by an associate of my local Fry's that since mice tend to collect all sorts of sweat that they all get returned to the manufacturer. I was hoping to avoid this hassle for them.

If anyone happens to have a mouse who's software allows them to set DPI by 100s or better, please post!

My razer Lachesis has Granular DPI control increments of 125 though.

Sure beats 1000. I have to try a Razor mouse sometime. See what the hoopla is all about.

The G700 has a totally customizable DPI setting. You can set basically as many stops as you want, in 100 DPI increments.

The Logitech driver suite, SetPoint is also superior to my brothers Razer software.
I think he has a Deathadder.

I had a Deathadder (several, actually), but now I use a G700, and I would agree that the Logitech suite is a bit nicer to use than the Razer software.

QFT. I too came from a DeathAdder 3G to a G700 and never looked back. The drivers for SetPoint is far superior than what Razer can ever make.

G700 is awesome, great dpi control and allows to you step it up or down as many times as you like at any dpi you like. I haven't looked back since I got mine to replace my X8. (=

Does logitech have anything similar to the Razer Naga? the G700 seems to have almost as many buttons, but most of them are in awkward places that I would not use.

My Razer Mamba allows for 100-DPI increments, from 100 to 5,600. I'm assuming the current Mamba model does the same from 100 to 6,400.

Also, hi! I haven't seen you around here in a while, surfasb. :)
