Guild War game world atomosphere is phenomenal on 1680x1050 resolution and 4X AA. What I don't get is why my frame rate is capped at 30 when using 4X AA? I could get 45+ frame rates if I unchcked waiting for vertical vsyn, so it's not my card not powerful enough to push it. Anyone here knows the reason behind this "weird" frame rate? :)
I could get 60 frame rates if I don't use AA, and 50 frame rates if I used 2X AA. All frame rates are capped speed with waiting for vsyn option checked.

That's just how vsync works, I'm pretty sure. I don't think there's a way around it.

So whenever 4X AA is used with waiting for vsyn option on, frame rate goes at 30 no matter what game you play?

Nono, v-sync tries to synchronize the framerate to your refresh rate, in this case, 60fps. However, with 4xAA, your computer isn't capable of maintaining 60fps; the way vsync works if it can't match the refresh rate, it has to drop to half.

Thanks for clearing up the myth iza, I guess overclocking probably will help to increase my 4X AA speed if I want more fluid gameplay.

The easier way is to turn off vSync. Tearing is usually unnoticeable.

    My system specs are

    Sager NP 2090
    15.4" WXGA+ Glossy screen
    C2D T7300 2.0 Ghz
    2 GB 677Mhz Ram GeForce 8600M GT
    Hitachi 100GB 7200 rpm HD
    Windows XP Pro SP2

GoW randomly crashes after about 5 mins of gameplay. And by crashing I mean my laptop powers off by itself (does not even restart).I have to press the power buttoon to switch it on again.
btw I'm using 169.04 drivers from laptopvideo2go. I changed to other driver versions but the problem still exists.

    Thanks in advance.

have you done any over clocking? laptop turns off itself if the heat is too much for the GPU etc,.. maybe the cooling system is not keeping up with the heat....

if it is only with that game then it should be a software error that causes windows to shutdown... maybe the game is executing some sort of a code that has to do with hardware (interrupt call etc,) really abnormally ... i have seen this happening before. check for game updates... this maybe a specific issue with your system specification or graphics settings...

V-Sync is designed to cap your frame rate so that it doesn't appear choppy, it does the same thing in many other games. V-snyc will lock the fps at 30, or some other number of fps, regardless of setting assuming you gpu can get fps that high. V-Sync can help prevent tearing and other artifacts, but in the end it is up to weather you want a high fps or for it to be smooth. I had this same problem with wow, my fps was locked at 60fps until i turned of v-sync then it went 140+.
