I am looking at the T61p because of the price, and the build quality. I currently have a T60 14.1 inch with an x1400.

I want to stick with the 14.1 inch but have heard the Quadro 570m is crippled.

Also some have said the nvs 140m performs as well or better. I cant see how as the quadro crippled or not is based on the 8600m while the nvs 140m is based off the 8400m.

Does anybody own a 14.1 inch T61p and play recent games like call of duty 4.

I just want the ability to play call of duty 4 medium setting 1280x1024 and company of heroes.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Bobby

Just seeing if the Quadro fx570m is worth the extra $65 over the nvs 140m for gaming.

    Basically 14.1 inch T60 vs 14.1 inch t61P

I had a t61 with an nvs140 (14" wide), I returned it and got a t61p 15" and there is a lot of difference in games. The fx570 is much better than I expected and it's a lot better than the nvs140 (couldn't quantify it though)

Quadro FX 570m is ~ GeForce 8600M GT GDDR3 and
Quadro NVS 140M is ~ GeForce 8400M GS

So yes, FX 570M is definitely better for gaming. Actually it's one of the best graphics cards you can get in 14" laptop. Only thing that I know is crippled about it, is the memory size, which is 128MB versus the 256MB you get in 15,4" T61P. So you may need to play with lower resolutions than with 15,4" model. Otherwise the 14,1" and 15,4" T61P should perform the same.

Oh i heard that they only use 64 bit memory.

From what I have read people say it is the equivalent of an 8600GT with Gddr2

    Nope,
FX 570M has 128 bit memory bus
and NVS 140M has 64 bit memory bus

And 570M is faster than 8600M GT DDR2, because of faster memory (higher clocks for GDDR3)

For a notebook that is not marketed as a gaming notebook it can play games very well.

I'm having a blast with mine.

Please keep in mind that the 14.1" T61p's Quadro also has a 64bit memory bus. This make the card crippled even further.

Thanks for the help guys, but after finding some real benchmarks this card is not half bad at all. At 1024 or 1280x1024 this card can play almost every game out there.

Whoever posted that the nvs 140m (in the lenovo section) is on par with this card is wrong. Every game I have looked up the 128mb fx570m outperforms.

Also for anybody wondering the real world gaming benchmarks puts this way ahead of the NVS 140m. 3dmark 2006 only showed a marginal gain.

Yes its memory is 64 bit, however, that doesn't change the fact that it is basically an 8600m.

The 256 meg 128 bit does out perform this card on many level, but for those of us like myself that want a 14.1 inch this is an awesome card.

From all the research I have gathered this card easily outperforms
    nvs 140m
    8400m
x1400 a huge difference (that is what I am upgrading from)
I have not looked up 7600 information but I would imagine it is close.

Crippled compared to a standard 256mb 570m yes, but compared to the 8400gs this card rocks.
