Hi guys, I created the page so we can discuss about the gaming performance and driver behavior on windows 8.1 and windows 10.

This is more or less benchmark of 980M on windows 8.1 and windows 10 for who is interested.

    Tomb Raider 2013

    Windows 10 :

    Ultra setting: View attachment 118357

    Ultimate setting: View attachment 118358

    Windows 8.1 :

    Ultra setting: View attachment 118359

    Ultimate setting: View attachment 118360

Middle Earth - Shadow of Mordor

    Windows 10 :

    Windows 8.1 :

    Ultra setting: View attachment 118367

It seems the average fps of windows 10 is a bit higher (quite higher in some cases) than windows 8.1 but the min fps of windows 8.1 is nearly twice higher than windows 10.

Drivers and software : ( I was told by many people that drivers will work fine on windows 10 if it works on windows 8.1 but it is not true )

    - I experienced lots of problem windows 10:
+ If you have a gaming laptop and try to use ShadowPlay by add "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA GeForce Experience\GFExperience.exe" -shadowplay" at the target, it won't work on windows 10 but will work perfectly on windows 8.1 ( tested with driver 344.75 )
+ Sometimes my fan stuck at the same speed and doesnt ramp up when play heavy game so the temp was 95 C, and the system must be shut down ( never happen once when I use windows 8.1 )
+ driver for fingerprint scanner seems to broken as there is no sign-in option with finger print for windows 10 but works with windows 8.1 .
+ Fraps crashes many times on windows 10 for no reason (never happen once in windows 8.1 )

Lol, i was so happy with windows 10 as I love a new start menu but gotta go back to windows 8.1 for good :(

That's whatcha get for being a guinea pig.

I don't expect any game improvements unless using DX12.

tomeh, don't use Fraps because is completely outdated software. It hasn't been updated since February 27, 2013 which is quite a long time. I would recommend Bandicam. It is much more better.

FRAPS is fine. Nothing wrong with it. It's lightweight for recording FPS and frametimes and taking screenshots. Afterburner is OK, but a bit too complicated with the UI, and bandicam is limited to a "per PC" cost model. Horrible if you tend to benchmark and record on lots of different machines frequently.

And a photo pic is fine as well. Take it easy guys.
