After lots of research I've finally decided I'd like to get an Asus F3Jc (AP046H to be precise).

    Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.66GHz; 2MB L2 Cache; 667Mhz FSB)
    120GB S-ATA harddisk 5400RPM
    1024MB DDR2 667Mhz (1 x 1024)
    NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 w/ 128MB VRAM

I'm wondering what its gaming performance would be like, however. I'll be using it for casual gaming (mainly World of Warcraft and AoE III) but I'd still like my games to run smoothly. Any opinions/advice would be most welcome. =)

Oh, and, I didn't fill out the FAQ list because I already did that once and now I'm just looking to confirm if I've made a good choice. ^^ I'm just wondering about the gaming, everything else I'm fine with.

The gaes you have mentioned don't require masses of graphics power, so the card in the Asus, should do okay. However, if the time comes, and you want to play games that are more intensive on graphics, like Battlefield 2/2142, then you may want to consider something with a little more power. I think they also sell an F3 model with a Mobility X1600 or Mobility X1700. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I would indeed like to get a better graphics card. But the thing is, I'd like to buy the notebook at a nearby store and that's the only F3 model they've got. I've been browsing through their products a bit and I came across the Asus A6T which has a Geforce Go 7600. Instead of Core 2 Duo it has an AMD Turion II 64 Mobile processor, though. Would that affect the overall performance or are they comparable?

I think that unless you are doing a lot of number crunching or going on the battery alot that processor should probably be fine.

Yes, I agree with night_2004. The performance difference between the two is very small anyway, and the Core 2 Duo only really excels in number crunching. Games are more graphics based, so a faster processer won't make much of a difference.

Oops, I got moved. xD; Well, anyway.

Thanks again for the input. I'm kind of still preferring the F3Jc because it fits my budget better and I get a free carrying bag + mouse with it. One more question though: I currently have a Mobility X600 + 512MB RAM. Would a Go7300 + 1GB RAM be much improvement? My first thought would be yes, but on the graphics card info page on this forum the X600 is ranked higher than the Go7300, so I was wondering.

What are the full specifications of your current system? The performance of the new machine with the Go7300 will be better, although not by leaps and bounds. The 1GB of RAM with the Asus will be a big improvement over 512MB though when it comes to overall responsiveness.

It should be fine with the games you mentioned.

I can tell you on my own experience that WoW will run pretty nice. AOE3 also on medium settings at native 1280x800 res.
