Is the differance between pentium M and Athalon 64 a big one when it comes to games?

Not big. Though athlon 64 would do better.

I don't think you would notice the difference.

The Pentium M is an excellent gaming processor, and consumes considerably less power and produces much less heat than an Athlon 64, which is very important in a notebook.

BTW - We have a gaming section, this should have been posted in there.

I think the PM's would do better when it comes to gamming. They are better at running single apps then amd, bu you wouldn't notice much of a difference.

I would go to Turion Mt series, but if you find money isnt a problem, Centrino Duo shall perform better in gaming.

    skywalker,

I am not trying to start a debate here, but the single-core Pentium-M is rated better for gaming and for encoding etc. Check out this article on dual-cores vs single-core:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/11/07/single/page10.html

That is the benchmarking results. They do show higher in alot (average of about 2 seconds) areas but is it worth the price?

    Just my $.02. :)
