**Gaming section game night?**

A few other members and I had started talking about Modern Warefare 2 and than began talking about forming a game night. It was brought up that a lot of us are in different time zones, I said that's fine and that we can create regional game nights if need be! Any game can work, I figured we could decide on a couple currently out or up and coming games as well as a time and date that will work for the majority of us and then see how it goes. If that time and date ends up working well then we will set that as the official game night. I figured we could start on a weekly basis and then if we are all really clicking make it more frequent if requested! So, let me and the rest of the members here know if you're interested, what games you would be interested in playing, and if possible, your time zone!

The games will be:

1. Team Fortress 2

2. Call of Duty: World at War or Call of Duty 4 (It's fine if both are running at the same time it's up to you to create the rooms though)

3. Left 4 Dead

4. Battlefield 2142/2 (It's fine if both are running at the same time it's up to you to create the rooms though)

Every game will have a NBR server with a password created by whichever member wants to take on the responsibility, the passwords and servers need to be PM'ed to me so that I can post them in this thread on the day specified prior to the day actually beginning so that everyone knows where to be and how to be there!

We will start off with those games, if a new game comes out in the meantime that everyone is raving about and wants to play than just let me know and we can go ahead and add it but too many games will become confusing.

The schedule will be as follows:

Call of Duty Mondays - Call of Duty World at War is to be played on Mondays!

Battlefield Wednesdays - Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield 2 are to be played on Wednesdays!

Team Fortress Fridays - Team Fortress is to be played on Fridays!

Left 4 Dead Sundays (since Sundays typically are drawl and dead) Left 4 Dead is to be played on Sundays!

Every day goes all day 12 to 12 regardless of time zone. Log on and find us using the X-Fire link provided or use this thread to communicate with other gamers!

We will try this schedule and see how it works for all of us!

 

I'd say COD4 (I'd have t get it for PC though) and MW2. I like to stick with only one or two FPS games, for consistency's sake (and money). Maybe TF2 since I'm already planning on getting Orange Box.

yea i kno joshthor, only me u and most of the gateway crew are on this late LOL. NBR after hours WHOAAAT.

We should definitely have a game night, maybe every friday starting at around 12*45 AM EST Time. That is perfect. Any1 who is not awake after that is too much of a morning person to play at the game nights.

If you guys wanna go through with this i can start a steam Group around this idea : NBR Game Night Group. And we can all meet up and play there and decide what game we will play. MW2 is gonna be our biggest game night, we gotta pull an all-night'er the Friday of the week that comes out.

 

A good Idea that would make it VERY easy would be to download Xfire, then create a "notebook review" community, have people join it, then from there people can join games at whim, with ease. Any game.

All of this would take about 2 mins to do. cheers.

Rot112, if you are talking about 12:45 am Saturday morning, I'm in. Also MW2 is the game I would probably want to play the most. I'm not on steam, is it free? And I wouldn't have to buy it from steam would I? oh and East coast for me and Friday nights are perfect.

Im in for sure, I only play World at War at this point, wish I had COD4, but if anyone is up for Waw im down. Obviously when MW2 come sout we will all be doing that.

 

Ok ok, i will get XFire and see how that program works and if it is good. Me and the OP could take it upon ourselves to get this set up.

So far im thinking:

Group Name: NBR Game Night Crew

Games: TF2, Modern Warfare 1&2, WaW,

Those are the most well known and popular games that most of us play.

We can add more games but this is what most of you have suggested so far.

This sounds like it could definitely work. We can debate on whether Friday or Saturday is a good day to Host the game night. As long as it begins on 12*45 im good. Anyone who can stay awake past that should not be in the group anyways lol.

Most Likely time : 12:45 Friday or Saturday

Whenever a new high profile game comes out like MW:2 we can do an all night' er the game night following that games release to celebrate the event.

It can't be that late....people have school and jobs. Sometime just after 4 or 5 PM will work and if it carries on until past 12 PM than that's fine. But starting it then is ludicrous. Or we could even just make it all day and it just sort of creates itself when people are around and have the time and willingness to play.

 

I think thats gunna be more of how it is, everyone has different preferences and schedules.

On the upside, I just created the group on xfire. Look it up, its "notebookreview" all lower case one word.

no has complained about the time yet. So i guess its ON. EVERY1!!!!!!!!! who wants to join in on these game nights just go to the link above this post to join. Once we get enough ppl we can start to plan out when we will have our first game night.

 

5pm EST = 2pm PST lol right smack in the middle of the day for us

 

It might be best that we just have gaming "days" then that spill into night so that when people from different time zones awake or have the ability to play they can just hop on and start. So why don't we set a day like friday or saturday and just dub it the "Game Day" free for anyone from NBR to join at anytime they wish, someone will make the server and put a password on it for each game, or we can have multiple servers depending on how many gamers we have.

I think I'm just going to figure that out at random, no game gets a preference. I think since I have 4 games listed we will go every other night. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. Once MW2 comes out we will move maybe to every night. What you just said struck me in the head, we can't do all of these games in one night we need to spread it throughout the week. Each day will be a different game, log on when you can and play! Simple as that.

 

Apparently I have TF2, so I can do that as well, just showed up in my Steam list, lol

Im going to be on Waw for a couple hours now, til 9ish or so, so anyone is welcome to join obviously.

Good to hear! As for Xfire, you will have to ask I guess the guys who set up the group. I personally have never really used Xfire for any amount of time so I'm not the one to ask.

 

I accepted you into the group, now using the client it should show up that your part of the group or clan or whatever, and it will show all the other memeber or the group as well and what they are doing, like playing or offline, etc.

We can use it to organize games and group convos and stuff. I have not used it in quite some but it is good for connecting with people.

OHHHHHHHHH you added Battlefield 2142 to the mix. Is that game good?.

Is the community large. i have all the games you mentioned in the first post except that one. Will pick it up if you guys can confirm it has a large and good community, and is fun to play.

Both are good with me, ranked we get points and promotions, unranked is good cause you end up doing crazy stuff and it's just fun haha

 

I'm down, though I don't much care if it is ranked or not, just as long as people play BF2, and not Call of Duty with a BF2 skin. CoD is fun, don't get me wrong, but it's nowhere near the level that Battlefield 2 is at, so I enjoy when people actually work as a team, not just run and gun. Let us know a time, I'm Central America time.

 

Ya why don't you go ahead and make the room. It can be ranked or unranked your choice, I just play for fun regardless. Once you do that, PM me the server name and the password so I can edit the thread with the details.

Alright everyone, I gotta setup the dedicated server when I get home on my extra machine (I'm sure that won't take long at all) and I'll PM bowler guy with the info so he can update the thread. Yeah ranked server actually cost money to rent on a montly basis so...I'm broke at the moment XD. See everyone there! ETA 4 hours.
