A Little help in Gaming for my Market Research

    Hi guys,

I need a little help in the form of Polls from u guys for my market research.

Was working on a project on Gaming industry & how big a challenge is it to Hollywood : the biggest entertainment industry.

I think most of us would prefer an Hour of Gaming than sit n watch Sitcoms which dont offer the thrill anymore.

Be it Counterstrike, Crysis Deathmatch, COD4 ...the thrill of playing online with people around the world is just too good to miss when compared to dull action on Television ..

oh n as for me..i would rather use HDTV for Gaming :D.

I have created a Poll.. would be very glad if moderators consider it as a favour to let it roll.

If I'm in the mood, I'll play multiplayer games for about 4-6 a day, normally I will play for about 2 hours or none at all. According to Xfire, my average hours of gaming per day, since february 2007, is 2,7 hours.

I've played single player games most of my life until the last couple of years when I've started playing with and against a friend. We play Battlefront II and Dawn of War: Soulstorm mainly, maybe 5 hours once a week. I still play single player games as well, depending on free time.

I don't play multiplayer games via internet, too time-consuming
I only play multiplayer games with friends via LAN maybe two times in a year
I mostly play older single player games, just to relax or do some senseless or to kill some time if I don't want to do some productive stuff :)
But if I'm too tired or don't want to play a game then I also enjoy watching a good movie.
    Sitcoms, mostly awful :confused2:

Online FPS (DoD:S, UT, 2142) 2-3 hours a day. Theres just too much fun in it. Especially if your chatting, and have a good convo during the battles...its just like hanging out with friends. And there are definitly some times where a moment in a game can make your entire day brighter, lol.

I've been spending way too much time on WoW lately.

Before I started WoW a couple weeks ago, I had really not been playing games very much for the past 2 years.

Singleplayer for me. Can't be much of multiplayer when the closest servers are thousands of miles away, and you have a slow internet connection. :(

I primarily play race sims like rfactor, GTR2, Race '07, Superbike 2001, GP4 and Richard Burns Rally and Microsoft Flight Sim X.

Next on the list are Sports titles like Rugby '08 and Madden '08. As for strategy games I have Football sims like Football Manger '08 and FIFA Manager '08.

Last on the list are shooters, COD4, Doom 3, System Shock 3 and several other. By a mile my favorite genre is racing sims.

I play single player games (mostly RPGs) for about 10 hours a week on average unless a new game is released and then I play it basically non-stop for a couple of playthroughs. I'm currently playing Mass Effect.

I mostly play Single player with games like Nevewinter Nights 2, Mass Effect, Football Manager 2008, Assassin's Creed and Oblivion.
I used to play Command and Conquer 3 Online and currently the only game that I play in multiplayer is Shaiya (a free MMORPG).
I'm in holidays right now so I can spend around 8 hours in games. ^^
The rest of my free time I'm either reading a book or watching a film on TV.

    Multiplayer/MMO ~ 3 hours/day, 4 days/week
    Solo ~ 2-3 hours/day, 3 days/week

    TV/Movies ~ Summer = 2 hours/day, 6 days/week; Winter = 4 hours/day/ 5 days week (new shows only)

I game, but I never got into the "popular" games like Counter-strike, WoW, Starcraft, etc. I see that 90% of the people here just play Call of Duty 4, Counter-Strike, WoW, or starcraft. And that is really limiting, you're seeing only the most spastic and shallow outlets of PC gaming.

I play about 2 hours a day. The games include Red Orchestra, Space Empires 4, GalCiv 2, Close Combat: Modern Tactics, Fallout 2, Ascendancy, and Space Rangers 2.

I play chess 3 hours a day. jking.

I used to play a moorpg. got bored and sold my account for 700$ USD and bought a surf board. now I surf 2 hours a day in the waves instead of surfing the web.

Movies I just see on the cinema because I have a free pass that allows me to go to the cinema 2 times a day just paying 15$ USD month. So I go a LOT.

I use to play an average of 1hour a day solo games and about 30min a day in multiplayer.

I just see sitcoms a the end of a season then I see all the episodes at once (usually a whole weekend).

Since my GF hates my Dell and gaming in general, I generally only play on my crap work computer ( Just started Planescape Torment ), after the boss leaves for maybe an hour or two a day.
At home I'll play some NWN 2 if I can sneak it in, or COD4 and Hotshots Golf with my son on the PS3.

NOW if I wasn't dating anyone, I know for a fact that I would be all over Warhammer ONline when it comes out for a good 4-5 hours a day.

Solo games I play on average about 3hrs a week. Multi-player games, mostly WOW, I play about 4-6 hrs a night when I have nothing else to do so on average I would say I play 25 hrs mp games a week. As far as television I don't watch but maybe an hour a week and that consists entirely of ESPNews just to check the bottom line. I work at a movie theater right now and I usually watch 2 movies a week while at work. I have a 3 DVD netflix account and I rent movies at my local video store so I usually watch 8-10 hrs of DVD's a week.

It kind of depends at times I don't game much (when life gets busy) then I'm tired and watch movies. However most of my free time is spent gaming usually solo stuff (RPG, Strategy, Adventure, console games) but I do play alot online to-rock band and FPS are huge.

Well solo gaming is fun while it lasts but once youve finished the campaign its all about the multiplayer. So tbh theres nothing better than getting on CSS or Warcraft 3 for a few hours and competing against others. Tv...well tv i never really watch it anymore lol. As for dvd i watch them all on my comp XD.

Well, I used to play counter-strike like it was my job; it sure did seem like it at one point. I was in a clan, in CAL, blah blah. Had to put a ton of time towards CS to be able to be in a clan and play in matches and practice. I don't really play CS anymore though, but when I did, I think I played from when I got home from school until when I went to bed, taking breaks for food and stuff :p

Then I got into WoW... And I thought CS was a time sink...
I don't even remember all the time I put into that game. Way too much.

I quit playing retail WoW almost 3 years ago, but recently I've been playing on private servers which is quite entertaining. I usually play for a good 3 hours after work. I have a girlfriend too, so I'm not a complete waste. I actually got her into MapleStory. She thinks it's cute and whatnot.

TV? I guess I'll watch it if it's on. I usually have it on regardless if I'm watching it or not. Reality TV shows are pretty funny though; and if Stella ever came back to Comedy Central, I'd be glued to the television :D (Stella was the best show ever by the way).

Oh, and I like movies. I have a lot of movies... :D

I hardly play solo games nowadays, if I do , its only the 2 "best" solo games of the year, which take about 8 hours on average to complete. So the amount of time I put in is negligible.

Multiplayer is where its at for me. I play about 5-10 hours a week. Mostly FPS online multiplayer like Halo3 or COD4 (both console and PC). I also used to play MMO's (and might play them again in the future)

I hardly ever watch sitcoms. I dont watch much TV at all. The reason I can get away with gaming this much is bacause I substituted watching TV and series with gaming, so my gaming doesnt eat away at my daily productivity. I follow about 1 series a year.

Watching movies on DVD is something I do frequently , but never by myself. Funny thing is, when my "gamer friends" come over we play Halo3 online multiplayer if we decide to stay in. When my nongamer friends come over we watch a movie.
