after doing a lot of research on the new penryn lineup and checking out benchmarks, i see no real advantage between an intel core 2 duo t8300 and the t9300. the cache difference has no real world value. (maybe 2-3 percent faster) and the clock speed difference is marginal. price for now puts the t8300 $77.35 cheaper than the t9300. i want to know if the t9300 owners got them becuase they think they are that much better, or for bragging rights. does anyone disagree that the t8300 is the best processor for the price. just curious as to the board's opinion.

the Penryn cores also utilizes 45nm technologly which means it is constructed to use less electricity and produce less heat, while giving better performance (if it's enough for you)

I installed the T8300 in my GW P-6831FX and my 3DMark06 score went from 7077 to 8578 without any gpu overclocks, with a gpu overclock of 640/940 my score jumped to 9815. From other posts and benchmarks i've seen using the T9300 I see no need to pay the extra $70+ for the T9300. At the moment I don't have any screen shots of my scores, but will try to post some later. 3DMark06 tests at 1280 x 800 res.

scorp40 that would be much appreciated. do you notice a difference in game play? i wish 3dmark06 would change their score to something like a fps only benchmark... thanks a lot for your time and info.

I installed COD4 and The Witcher on the laptop, both seemed to run smooth at high settings, but I have yet to really do much playing, I've been spending more time trying to pry the laptop out of my wife's hands, and keep getting that "you do, and you die" look.
