I think that the current exposure of the 8700 on websites is pretty poor so far. Most initial reviews of the M1730 make pretty general comments about the gaming performance, never really comparing it to anything else. They just say "Great Gaming Performance" or "Excellent Gaming Performance" or "Great for Gamers" or something. Which is pretty worthless in the grand scheme of things.

Even TomsHarwardware Review, benchmarked all of 2 games. FEAR (wtf? Bioshock anyone?) and OBLIVION. With one of those benchmarks (FEAR) being void..... I mean does this look like an accurate result to you? I especially like the part where the overclocked CPU runs the game slower at 1920x1200.

The fact they were having trouble in OBLIVION with running the game at 1920x1200 (not performance, just the fact it wouldnt work) means there were driver issues with that too. So that test isnt exactly flawless.

I think people should post their benchmarks in here.... and hopefully we can build up a more accurate picture of the performance of the M1730 and the 8700.

Quite the thread necro mate. And no, that's at least two thousand points short of an 8800m.

Why not look for something with the 9700GT, or even better, the 9700GTS?

What notebook are you looking at?

i think those scores are very similar to a similarly overclocked 8600m gt

It has to be a very high overclocked 8600M GT GDDR3 to reach those scores though. Most can reach 800 on the memory easily, but not many can hit 600 on the core.

yeh, and even if the 3dmarks are similar, i wonder about in game performance. Because i get very high scores on my very overclocked 8600m gt, and it gets even higher scores than stock 8700m gt. but I wonder how it really performs next to a 8700m gt in game.

anyone up for posting in game frame rates?

Probably the same since it's based on the same core. I'd expect the 9500M GS, 9600M GS, 9600M GT, 9650M GS, 9650M GT and 9700M GT to perform similarly too with the same clocks.
