I bought the Toshiba A100-VA9 about a month ago.

    Quick specs:
-Centrino Core 2 duo 1.66 MHz
    -2 GB RAM (533 MHz)
-200 GB 5400 Rpm hard drive
    -GeForce 7600 128mb dedicated (I think it's 256mb shared, in fact)

I bought this laptop for school but also for gaming.
The reason I got this model is that I didn't want an integrated Intel graphics card. Fellow students, who have an integrated Intel card, score 3.8 or 4.5 on the Aero graphics test on Vista.

I only score 3.1 on Aero graphics and 3.8 on gaming graphics. Why are my scores so low? I can run battlefield 2 with graphics at max. Nhl08, graphics at max. Neverwinter Nights 2, graphics at medium-high... but why am I scoring so low?

Can I overclock this setup? Should I upgrade my drivers? Please help.

    Thx in advance.

Let me get this straight. You can run all the games you want to run at good settings, but are still concerned because your WEI might be too low, so you're considering OC'ing your card to remedy that? Come on, it's not like the WEI is a real benchmark, I would just ignore it entirely.

Please don't talk about the WEI here. That's blasphemy. We only accept real benchmarks.

Edit: Dang it, beat me to it.

Where can I get a real benchmark for free? You have to pay for 3D Mark right? Is the 7600 a good graphics card? Is it normal that NWN2 does lag a little at high settings...? I don't think it's the most demanding game.

Is it safe to overclock? Does it void garanty?
Not that I want to... but I guess in a year from now I will.

Also, what would the best drivers for this card be?

Please read the stickies. There's no point to benchmark your card other than prove your e-pen1s. Don't OC your card, I really don't trust you at doing that.

Well, I am in "genie logiciel" which is umm... "program engineering" (I'm not really good in english). So I do know some things. I just never overclocked anything... just want to learn about it.

For the benchmark, I wasn't planning on posting anything, it was for my own curiousity.

20$ says Windows Vista is giving you a low score caus it only sees your processor as a 1.8Ghz and doesn't take it as a dual. Vista scores are given in accordance with your lowest element wich is stupid and...well... the whole VIsta scoring thing is uselesly stupid :p

Since through research that graphics card appears to be only a Go 7600, it would be a mid / low end graphics card. I think that laptop is around $1000? Try to return it and get a dell w/ a 8600GT. You won't be disappointed. Hope this helps.

Lol. I am not disappointed. And I hate Dell. I got a great deal on the laptop and it is now scratched and bought since over a month. No returning it back. Thanks for the tips anyways.

The Go7600 is a mid end graphics card now, though when it came out it was quite a nice performance card for the price. The best benchmark for it would be 3dmark06 (there is a free version, which will work fine for you). Read the graphics driver update in the sticky for information on that.
