What games can run comfortably along with 2GHz and 2GB ram?
-
none...the 8400M GS is an extremely weak card...to even run bioshock on med u'll need at least an 8600M GT
-
It'll run HL2 on high 1280 x 800 without a problem (AA off). ^^ the 8400M GS is actually really underrated, it's a strong budget performer and the gddr3 is a great overclocker.

Also take note of which 8400M version you're looking at. The -G, -GS, and -GT versions are all very different.

for the GS, Bioshock will run on low settings. Enabling High Detailed Shaders and Shadows will significantly slow down, unless the resolution is on 640x480, then it's playable (30FPS). 800x600 with everything off is playable, too.
High settings for games in The Orange Box. No AA for smooth gameplay. -
I, too, am wondering about gaming with the 8400 (version in sig). I wanted to go for 8600, but alas, had to stay under the DPA budget. Grr.
I'm not much into shooters (though CoD4 looks interesting) so I'll mostly go for games like Oblivion, Vampire: Bloodlines, and others of similar nature once I find 'em (recommendations? lol)
Also, I hear a lot about 'overclocking' the more I wander thru the forums. What is it, how does it help, etc etc... -
You bioshockers are wrong.
Switch to dx9 mode and you'll easily double your framerates. Does not look that much dif'rent either >_> -
Yeah you guys are wrong
I can run bioshock 800x600 medium settings at 25-30 fps, very playable, and that's in dx10
dx9 helps so much, I run in dx9 most of the time -
Any other games you'd recommend to me along the same lines as Oblivion and Bloodlines? -
I got my M1330 with an Intel X3100
but it's actually not as bad as I expected, I got:
Half Life 2- Max(no AA)- 18-34 FPS
COD4- Low(no AA)- 9-31 FPS
NBA '03 High(noAA)- 27-44FPS
UT3 Low-Med(No AA)- 4-17FPS
UT2004 High (no AA) 22-49FPS
So expect 2-3 times the power with the 8400M GS
GeForce 8400M on laptops... can it run games like Bioshock and HL2?
