I am trying to buy an asus c90s from gentech pc and as for the graphics card options there are:

    GeForce 8600M GT 512MB GDDR2 (400MHz) MXM 2.0 (In Stock): $0
    GeForce 8600M GT 256MB GDDR3 (700MHz) MXM 2.0 (In Stock): $55

Is it worth paying extra because although it is GDDR3 instead of GDDR2, there is less memory?

Yes, if you got the money, go for GDDR3. GDDR3 are basically improve ver of GDDR2(I hope this is the way to describe), it create less heat than GDDR2 thus will be able to clock higher thus is faster.

As you can see, one is 400 and another one is 700.

Again, worth it or not are all depend on your budget.

If you can afford it, get the GDDR3 card without hesitation.
