Depends on what youre doing; if youre gaming get the 8600, if youre using things like autocad, get the 570.

probably about the same.. have you look at the clock/processor spec of each cards? the fx 570m is optimized for opengl, which is for professional app..

imo, the t61p is significantly better laptop than the xps m1530.

Is the T61P better than the M1530 for gaming??

I'm playing COD4, World in Conflict, Guild Wars and I will probably be playing Star Craft 2

The Dell XPS M1530 will be a better for gaming since the drivers are tailored towards gaming. The T61p will be better for CAD programs. However you can use Geforce drivers (like I am doing with my T61p) and still play games very well.

I can play CoD4 on my T61p with medium/high settings.

Either one works fine for gaming.

Can a T61P with T9300 on Santa Rose Platform and Quadro FX 570M run games like crysis well ??

Sorry, for kind of highjacking this thread, but is there a driver for ght 8600gt gddr2 that is better at openGL, I use solidworks, and the high-quality rendering doesn't work with my current drivers...

Yeah you should be able to play Crysis on medium settings with the T61p.

I don't believe there are any drivers for the 8600GT which will make it run better with openGL.

As a matter of fact, I'm in the middle of Crysis right now. On all medium settings, the game runs pretty smooth, although sometimes my T7300 has trouble picking up the slack.

Depends on which GPU chip is in the 8600m GT.

    The FX 570m in the T61p 15.4" has a
NVIDIA G84 revision A2 GPU with 256mb of dedicated DDR3 RAM.

Also note that the cooling system and overall build of the CPU/GPU cooling system works very well and allows the T61p to maintain lower temps for optimal settings.

    T61p CPU/GPU cooler.

With the T61p you get one of the most powerful applications of a G84m GPU in a 15.4" build.

    1280x**** on T61p high.
Not all the bells and whistles on but it looks very good and game play is enhanced with graphic physics.

The Quadro also works slightly better with games that implement OpenGL, so it is a bit better...

The Quadro and 8600 are really equal the only diffrence is the drivers so with the same drivers the GPUs will have almost identical 3dmarks scores.
