    Hi and help please.

Purchased a laptop off of ebay. And found the GeForce FX Go5700 to be faulty. So i took it to the local repair shop and he swears blind he can not find a replacement nor can I ?

What other cards can i use? Only the reason the shop guy gives for his lack of finding "the replacement is the card must push down to connect" unlike the pc cards of the same name.

Any and all help is gratefully recieved.

    Geoff

You can't upgrade the GPU of your notebook. Check with the maker to see if they still have spare parts, but don't hold your breath.

Well, that is somewhat of a blanket statement, isn't it. Unless I am missing something, you don't know exactly what laptop he has, so you can't say for sure.

And (as i hope you know) many laptops do have discreet cards - the Dell 9300/9400 comes to mind specifically; there are many others of course, i just know the dells well. IN the 9300, you could upgrade from an x1400 (i believe) to the 6800U or 7800GTX (which I have in mine)..

All that is covered in the gaming sticky I posted.

To others reading this, please read the gaming sticky before asking if your card can be upgraded.

And unless he tells us what laptop he has, we have to assume that he CANNOT upgrade his video card since over 99% of the laptops on the market can't.
