Hi Geeks,im a n00b in this forum...I am planning to purchase a Dell Inspiron 1520 with discrete Graphics card (any one of GeForce 8400 GS or GeForce 8600 GT)...So if i include discrete Graphics solution in my Laptop Configuration will it affect Battery life? Please reply..

Yes. But it will also run better with Vista and in games or in anything that requires GPU horse power.

Hence, that's why theres a 65watt and 95 watt adapters for the machine.

So assuming all the extra power goes to the video card, that's about 30 watts extra just for the video card. But the card down clocks extensively to save power anyways on battery power. So I don't think the loss can be big of a deal.
