I have a Dell Inspiron 9300, which i gotta say runs friggin awesome, with a Geforce Go 6800. Anyway i noticed that neither Nvidia nor Dell hast put out a driver update for it since i bought the computer back in March. I have read about alot of peope getting drivers from other places and was wondering what the risks were and if they would even be helpful? Does Nvidia support these drivers? Has Nvidia put out another driver and i just don't know it? I've looked on their website and haven't even found anywhere where i can download an updated driver for the GO 6800. It would be nice if it was set up just like their other drivers. I know to some of you these may sound like dumb questions but i'm not a fan of downloading things that I don't know about. All my games work great (Half-Life 2 all setting max, Rise Of Nations, World Of WarCraft) except Swat 4. It never saves my settings or profile (i tried deleting the swat 4.ini file, no luck) and crashes my laptop every time i exit the game (even with the new patch). This probably isn't a driver issue but i figure i should find out where to download the drivers anyway since Nvidia doesn't seem to want to support the GO 6800. Thx in advance for any help.

www.laptopvideo2go.com is considered no 1 source for moded nvidia drivers .

But if its working why break it ?

You are probably right its the game fault , if you must update the driver search forums for specific version known to work properly with the game .

It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to support specialized components, such as their GPUs. Most manufacturers in truth don't bother, so it may seem that you're out of luck. However, there are several modded driver sets available for use with your card; I personally use the Omega Drivers ( http://www.omegadrivers.net/), and have never had a problem with them (in fact they've fixed several issues I've had in the past).

There's more information on this in the "Addendum" section of my FAQ (see signature).

Thanks for the fast response. Yeah i feel the same way, if it's not broke don't fix it. I really didn't think it was the driver's fault the game is messing up but i just wanted reassurance. I just find it weird that Nvidia doesn't bother to update the GO 6800 drivers more often and post them on their site. Anyway, thank you for the help and it looks like i'll just be deleting Swat 4 again and waiting for another patch.

I was using the latest modded drivers from laptopvideo2go and I wasn't getting the framerates I should have been getting on CS:S. They were around 40 fps. Also, BF2 demo was running horridly on anything above 800x600.

So I got the latest XtremeG drivers from 3dGuru and it seemed to help. Also, I got a higher clock value from the 'Optimal clock speeds' button. Upped my 3dmark05 marks over 4000.

    Just a thought.

Thanks for the help guys. I didn't want to give up on the game so i installed a new driver from laptopvideo2go and lo and behold it solved every problem i had with Swat 4. Wow, what a difference. The framerate was even better. Why is it that Nvidia doesn't do something like this (rhetorical question)? Anyway, thanks again for solving my problem.

Hey I've got a 9300 with a Go 6800, 2.00ghz processor, 1gb dual channel ram, 80gb 7200rpm hd, and i got less than 3000 on 3dmark05. Following this post, I got the newest 80.40 driver from Xtreme G or whatever, but still I'm getting 3350 on 3dmark05. Why are other people getting 4000? Should I overclock CPU and/or GPU?

Your score of 3350 sounds right. If you want to reach near 4000...you need to overclock. Dell has thier clockspeeds extremely conservative for the 6800 (I think they purposely have it clocked low...in order to sell more XPS systems w/6800Ultras).
Personally, I overclock my desktops...but am nervous about pushing my laptop too hard. Still, I have mine set at 330/675. (stock speeds are 290/590)
Nvidia's "optimal" recommendation was a bit higher...but I clocked it down from that just to be on the safe side.
I am now scoring about 3600ish in 3DMark05.

You can adjust your GPU speeds in your Display properties (w/XtremeG drivers installed)

First, go to NVIDIA's site and download the latest drivers.

Then, go to driverheaven.net, and download the driver mod program. Follow the instructions on the page...pretty simple.

    Worked for me! :D

    Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with the Nvidia Go 6800 (256mb) graphics card. Exactly as the post by tomas I am wondering whether I should be upgrading the driver as the date in the cert is July 2005.

Have not really had many probs with it except for Oblivion which slows drastically in crowded screens and always crashes on exiting.

Thing is been to the Nvidia site and the site suggested in the forum but cannot find the driver to download. Really I need a reliable source as down want to ruin my graphics card. Please help?

if you want you can email direct at [email link removed by moderator] Thanx.

I removed the email link for your security.

I'd look at www.laptopvideo2go.com, get their drivers. There's instructions on the site for installing them. Requires a bit of modding but nothing major.

    Hello,

    could someone PLEASE help me?

I've an Alienware Laptop with a GeForce GO 68000 Ultra card. The game I play the most is Sony Online Entertainment's Everquest.

Recently they upgraded their servers and now th egame won't run on this laptop, although it runs on older ones.

Sony say to get an upgraded driver form the manufacturer, Alienware can't supply one.

This is really bad news as this laptop is less than a year old and I desparately need ot get back onto EQ.

COul dsomeone point me to where I can an updated driver that would work?

Thanks in advance of your help
