    Hello.

I hope the question is not too noobish but I'm running out of options on where to ask.

I have an Alienware laptop with an Nvidia GeForce 6800. I had been running SWG prefectly (usually getting the capped 30 fps and +/- 100 ms in ping) for a year and a half. On March 29th, they had a patch for the game and from that day on I get a jumping frame rate from 3 to 30 and a ping from 350 to 600.

Through a thorough process of elimination, Ive determined that something they patched has a conflict with my card.

    1. Has anyone else experienced this same issue?
    2. If so, what are the alternatives?

Thank you. Any and all input is welcome!

Might want to try modded drivers from LaptopVidio2Go or tweaksrus. I had the same driver conflict with Battlefront 2 and was able to fix it by not using AW's drivers.

    Hi. Co.
What is the best way to determine which driver to download, just go for the latest? I went to laptopvideo2go and there are a ton available!

Download the 84.26 drivers, those are the lastest. Let us know if that works.

I installed that driver and the problem still persists. FPS constantly jumping from 3/4 to 30 and ping in the 350's.

Hm . . is there any way to get rid of the patch, or do you need it to play?

Check to see if there are any background proceses that are running that shouldn't be. We have a tune-up guide here, check that out.

Unfortunately it does need the patch. Even if I delete it, it will look for it and download it on its own. I also have tried the clean boot. The guide is really good though. I will do those today.

One more thing to do is disable your antivirus/antispyware and firewalls to see if any of those are causing interference in gameplay. They might not be, but it's worth it to find out.

You can also try creating a seperate user account and playing it from there.

I had disabled all those items as part of the troubleshooting process.

Funny thing is, that this morning it was suggested by a Sony TRS to re-install the software firewall. Now, I cant explain technicaly but...... it works now. The ping and fps are fine. I have no idea what this re-installation might have done. /shrug

Hmph, interesting. . . maybe it changed the way that the firewall looked at that game process. But, glad it's fixed nonetheless.
