I haven't seen any threads concerning OC'ing this card, so I thought I'd share the success I've had so far.

    System specs in my sig

    Default Clocks on my machine:
    450mhz - core
    700mhz - memory
    3dmark05 - 2000

    Currently using:
    511mhz - core
    817mhz - memory
    3dmark05 - 2198

    Best so far:
    516mhz - core
    822mhz - memory
    3dmark05 - 2203

I made breaking 2200 in 3dmark05 my initial goal and managed that last night. Those clocks seem stable with no artifacts and after further testing I may make those my new default. I've had no increase in heat from default clocks to speak of. At most a couple degrees. GPU still never breaks 50c under load.

Are you sure that it is your GPU that never breaks 50c? I can assure you, GPU's get hot. You can get easily 75 degrees after running 3dmark05. I think you are talking about the CPU.

Nice scores you got there, but I must say you have to clock a lot to get a little improvement. My notebook managed a boost of 320 in 3dmark05 by overclocking core with 21 Mhz and mem with 33 Mhz.

I have to assume it's the GPU core because I'm going by the temp readout in the Nvidia Forceware driver screen that says specifically, GPU temp and has a readout. I guess it could be pulling the temp from the wrong sensor, but Everest shows the same temp for GPU. I can play HL:2 or NFS:MW for an hour or two, exit out of the game (takes about 5 seconds) check the temp in Forceware (takes about 2 seconds) and the temp is never above 46c or so. Also, the case never gets more than slightly warm in any place I can feel. My CPU temp usually gets to about 60-65c under load.

    Hello dear all,
I've overclocked my HV DV8XXX (Custom) lappy with 7400GO very well.

    The stock clocks-
    400 Core
    700 Mem

    My OC (Stable)
    563 Core
    864 Mem

    max
    570 Core
    871 Mem

There seem to be some disperancey among the core clocks of 7400 by diffrent manufacturers. Some put the core to 450, some to 400, thats for the heat and power savings, i Guess.

My heatsink base temp(With a thermal probe) is 47.c Idle and peaks to 60 when playing Doom 3 !

Please note that this is not GPU/cpu temp.
My lappy shares a common heatsink for CPU and GPU, As the in-built sensors are not accurate, I used a probe for the above values.

With the OC, i can play NFS MW at 1024X786 with MAX AA and AF and highest possible quality settings.

The battery life has not dagraded much , it happens to be around 2:30 Hrs.Still great for the monster OC!

    Let me repeat !!
The oc is 563/864 Thats 163Mhz+ on both sides !!!

    windowsrookie,
You have a good OC there...
HP DV6X series has base clocks at 450 , so 575 is 125 Mhz over the stock.

MY HP Dv8X series has base clock at 400, so 563 is 163 Mhz over stock.

But what is your mem stock? 700? 800? if its 700 (As is mine) tha you had a hell'a overclock man! 200Mhz over stock!

Windowsrookie, which driver are you using? I downloaded the 163.11 with the modded inf from laptopvideo2go and got BSOD when starting a game.

Also could someone plz help me? why is my go 7400 has 128 mem only? I heard that I need to configure the main memory as dual-channel?

    Thx for help.

    Hello dear,
These 7400 are OEM babies from various laptop manufactureres...
Its upto them to decide the array of specifications including Memory timings, Latencies, frequencies, Banks, Cooling and so on...

This makes them unique devices on their own.
So its better recommended to stick with manuf certified drivers rather than laptop2go.. Even i tried and ended up with a crash quite a few times...

Again speaking of these OEM tricks, its their call to decide the memory..
I ve seen lappys with 64,128,256 , and 512 mem on Go chipsets..
There is nothing to do with Dual channel things here...

Smaller lappys(Eg 6000 T/TX/Z) are with 128 Meg of pure ram, and 128 from Turbocache, making em efficient 256 ram available. These are also slightly clocked higher to make up for performance...

Larger lappys (eg 8000 X) use two step 74000 mem, so two levels of 128 MB pure ram and their respecctive 128mb Turbocaaches...So effective 512 MB available.. This also makes them very effiecient and great performer!
i can play NFS MW at XGA res with Full Settings !!

What Tricks you use for getting that Little GeForce ram to 900??
    Mine starts atrifacting at 875!

Bios mods? (can Go series be Bios modded in first place?)
    Volt mods?
    INF cracks?

Wow can you really play NFS @ max setting w/o lag, what fps do you get. I play @ 1024x768 at medium settings on a 8600m gt Oc'd to 600 core/500 mem and I get constant Fps drops that make the game difficult to play.

    Dear,
NFS Mw leaves is without any Internal bencharking/FPS option , So i cannot give you the exact FPS,However, the gameplay is smooth and playable.
Graphics eye candy is also top notch! We can see the cracks on Raods, HDR effects, Falling leaves, burn marks etc very well..

I can also play Ghost Recon2 (A hell of heavy games!) well at mid settings, 1280X800 (Widescreen laptop).

    The bench are as here-
    Aquamark 3 - 40,000 Points
    3D mark 06 - 932 points !! (Stock 7400 gives about 800 officially)

Wo! these GF 8600 G(X) babies seem great on paper !!
But they let us down in real world performance...maybe due to heavily bogged dowm Transistor count and Crippled pipeline arcitecture...

    You can't play NFS MW at 1024 X 768 ??
These 8600s are a joke then!
i used to play NFS very well at 1024X768 (4X AA, 4X AF) MAx settings on My 6600 GT!

I bet my 3 Yr old 6800 still Kicks a$... off these fancy GF 86XX babies !

If people can get such good results with 7400, I'll try with my 7600, maybe I can get some more eyecandy with Far Cry (that free one).

Hell I play NFS Most Wanted at 1920x1200 with 8xAF no AA and maxed out details at a framerate around 40fps sometimes dips down to 30 fps but not noticable :)

This of course on an overclocked 7800GTX with a Core of 460 and Mem 1200. Now I just have to pinmod a 1.8GHz to 2.4 and I´ll be happy. I have a 2.13 single core now.

First i want to thank you for sharing your overclocking success.

I already overclocked my geforce go 7400 from 450/700 to 475/760.
Now i want to set it up again.

Up to how many celcius can i overclock it?About 65°C or more?
(hotest up to now is 62°C - playing s.t.a.l.k.e.r. of ...)
(the fan starts to run slowly)

    Thanks for helping me

My Go7400 is at 531/1060 right now. Max temp of 81°C in 27°C room. 70°C max in a 18°C room for me. The max temp the Go7400 can reach is 105°C so 62°C isn't a worry at all.

(now running at 480/750....memory starts to create display mistakes at 800mhz)
    (using latest laptopvideo2go driver)

But I will see how far i can overclock it

My default is 450/700. *edit - not 750*
I usually overclock it to 494/888 and it runs fine. Would it be fine running at 531/1060? My max temp according rmclock on vista x64 is 65degrees C, minimum is 53degrees C.
thanks for any replies, currently using Lv2G 169.09 and going to update to 174.31 drivers.

Max clock i would go to for memory is 900. Max for core is 520.

Overclocked my geforce go 7400 (64mb+256mb) from 450/700 to 500/750.
Setting the GPU higher is no problem, but the memory starts atrifacting short under 800mhz. Is there nothing I can do to set it higher?(stable) (ps. Use laptopvideo2go driver 174.31)

    Thanks for reply

You could try lowering the core a bit to see if you can get the memory any higher. In my experience, overclocking the memory brings the greatest performance increases.

I tried to lower the core a bit to see if i can get the memory higher 750mhz (only makes +- 20mhz steps)
(Overclocking the gpu more than up to 500 seems no problem)

But i doesnt help. Can it has to do anything with the driver version?

Another question is if there is something important apart from the temperature i should supervise or that could damage my graphics card when overclocking it??

    Thanks for reply
    Sorry for my bad english

I have an amilo pa 1538 with go7400. It goes 530 for core and 910 memory. I dont see any point overclocking the core because the 64bit memory bus width. 4588 points in 3dmark03 with those clocks. 400 for core and 910 memory, 3dmark03 points 4300.

I benchmark my card against 3DM05 even though I never play games that came out later than 2005. E.g Im playing Knights of the old republic, dawn of war and quake 4 atm.

Its easier to compare like for like especially when it comes to 3DMark e.g. How can you compare your 03 score with my 05 score or anyones OC result above?

of course, you're right. i'll run 3dmark05 so we get some comparison. i was comparing this to my good old radeon 9700 which got exactly same amount of points. got this laptop two days ago.

Hi Guys, I am totally new to this overclocking Business so go gentle.

I have managed to OC my Go7400 to Core 560 and Mem 783 using ntune.

I would like to know how you guys are managing to get the mem clock so high, as if I push it any further I start to get artifacts. I see one guy got it up to 900

My temperatures are maxing out at about 63c after the O'clock, is this ok and at what temp should I start worrying?

I tried updating the drivers to 171.41 using the laptop2go modded ini file, but found that I couldn't O/C using rivatuner or ntune. I then cleaned out the driver and installed the latest OEM driver from the sony website which is 97.54. Should i just stick with this driver or should I try some of the other more recent L2G modded drivers?

Thanks in advamce for ur help.

    Default settings were

    Core 450
    Mem 700

My lappie is a Sony Vaio SZ483N/C

    2GB RAM
    320GB HD
    Core Duo T7400 2.16Ghz
