I dont know about the "se", but there is a 128mb version of the 7600go. Any variant of a 7600 will do most anything. Granted some are better then others, but still above average none the less.

There are two versions of the Go7600 as far as I know - the Go7600 and the Go7600GT. The latter is only found in the Sony AR series notebook; it is considerably faster than the regular Go7600 cards. It has 12 pixel pipelines vs. the standard card's 8.

The standard Go7600 comes in three configurations - 128MB dedicated, 256MB dedicated, and 512MB dedicated. Whether you get the 256MB or 512MB dedicated version doesn't make much of a difference (the Go7600 isn't powerful enough to make much use of the extra 256MB of VRAM on the 512MB card), but the 256MB card shows significant performance gains over the 128MB card, at least in synthetic benchmarking.

maybe by 7600SE they mean the 128mb dedicated version...

hm how much turbocache is there on the 128mb version? since it sais that it borrows memory from the ram...

GeForce Go 7600SE is different from Go7600 but I do not know anything about it

here are the 3DMark results but they don't matter so much

    3dMark 2003 2005 2006
    7600SE 8100 3250 2000
    7600 8800 3800 2600

otherwise NVidia Geforce Go 7600 SE have 128MB (max.256MB shared memory)

That looks like the benchmark difference youd see in a 128mb vs 256 mb 7600/x1600. I am starting to lean twards the "se" being the 128mb version, but I may be wrong.

Actually, Go 7600SE is probably downclocked version of Go 7600...

SE usually means a cut down version of the original card. It might even be ddr2 ram instead of ddr3 and have less pipelines, as well as being underclocked.

I don't know if this SE variant would be better then a full dedicated X1400 card.

For example I used to have a desktop X800SE model - it had 128Mb ddr2 ram instead of 256mb ddr3 of the full x800 and less pipelines - performance was pretty much the same as a regular x700 and far behind a regular X800, despite sharing the actual same name.

The 7600SE and the fully fledged 7600 might be similar.

I just bought a 4283WLMi. It scored approximatley 1500 with 3dmark06. Quite dissapointing.

    Acer TravelMate 4283WLMi / 15.4" WXGA / Centrino 2 Duo T5500 1.66GHz / 128MB GeForce Go 7600se/ 1024MB (2*512) DDR2 / 100GB 5400RPM S-ATA

3dMark06 isn't always totally indictative of your machines performance - I have a 7600GT in my desktop and 1.5Gb ram, only get 1,700 in 3dm06 but I can still play latest games at very high settings...

Just to remind you, some people let themselves get a bit too bothered with 3dMark...

Well that would depend on what version of the 7600 you have.

A friend of mine has just bought a Toshiba P100 with Go7600 128mb and he scores about 2,160 in 3dmark05. This is hardly 2x performance of the x1400.

With Rivatuner installed details are default clocks of 350/400 and a 64bit memory bus.

When overclocked upto 450/400 it scores about 2,650 so yeah is better than an x1400 and I would rather have even this version of the 7600.

Maybe with the Go7600 256mb version you may get somewhere near 2x performance (in theory).

The go 7600 in my system, which is one of the more underclocked 7600's that I know of, gets about 3000-3100 at stock settings.

It's been overclocked up to about 3600-3700. Just over 4000 is the highest I've seen for this particular card in a Compal system.

Yeah you have the 256mb version of the Go7600 which does perform really well compared to the x1400. The 128mb version though as I mentioned doesn't do so well.

That's a great price for a 17" with 240 GB of Harddisk. Nice!
