I posted this on another forum where & thought I'd have gotten an answer & did not get even one response!

So I hope I put this in the right forum here!

Here's an odd occurrence of video driver dates & versions.

The nVidia driver that came with my dv9225 is dated 2/10 & is version 7.15.11.65.

When Windows told me there were new updates & the video driver was one of them, I opted for it.

When it was installed it was dated 02/27, 'newer" & the driver version was 7.15.10.9815, "older"!

When I tried to roll it back, I couldn't so I uninstalled the driver to get the notebook to recognize the hardware & reinstall the 7.15.11.65 driver.

It ended up installing a version dated in 11/06, version 7.15.10.9710!

So when I did as search for better drivers it went again to the 7.15.10.9815 & I am now "stuck" with this "newer" yet "older" driver!

What gives with that & does anyone know why?

    Thanks!

First, what OS. XP or vista? and second, can you name the driver the way nvidia does (86.02, 98.15, 97.10)? because 65.00 is VERY old drivers that doesn't support you graphics card AFAIK.

Windows Update doesn't always contain the latest drivers. Looks like HP shipped your system with 100.65. If the drivers hasn't appeared in the downloads section for your system means that it was probably incorporated in their images recently. It should eventually make it there. If your system still has the SWsetup folder, look through there and it should contain the drivers which shipped with your system. If the driver in the SWSetup is still 97.10 then just download the drivers from Nvidia.com and get the modd-ed inf from laptopvideo2go and install the driver.

Figured you'd all know by what notebook I posted, but it's Vista 64 bit.
It took a few minutes, but I figured out how to find the other number you seek.
    It's 98.15.
I did that & the driver is dated 12/06 & is nVidia version 97.46! So it took 2 steps back!
I just found about them & got very confused as they have 2 versions.

100.85 is dated Apr 6 2007, 08:18 AM & a "later" version, 101.70 is dated the same day, but earlier in the day, Apr 6 2007, 03:48 AM so me, a self proclaimed notebook forum noob, doesn't know which one to get!

The dates aren't as important as the versions, because manufacturers re-release drivers. A higher version equals newer (but not necesseraly better) drivers. Go by trial and error to find a good driver. I'm using 101.41 (101.7 gives me bsods).
