Just got my M1710 with the 7900GS and Wireless N Card. I am having some serious lag problems. So I have two questions.
Can my lag problems be from trying to play BF2 online using wifi?
What video settings should I use for BF2?
Thanks.

Your lag problems likely come from wireless. Though Draft N is fast, it's still wireless, and can still experience interference issues.
Also, how much memory do you have? The Battlefield games use a lot of RAM at high settings; I didn't get lag-free play on BF2142 until I upgrade from 1GB to 1.5GB of RAM. -
Well its easy to tell if it is lag issues.
Do you get the lag in the SP part of the game (or when you are alone).
Or you can put all settings to lowest and see if you still get lag.
If you do its your wifi (I get lag through it too). -
I've got 2GB of RAM. I think WIndows Vista uses a lot of resources and that 2GB of Ram is equivelent to 1GB on XP.
Do you or anyone else use wifi to play BF2? -

Don't use wireless when you're playing online Battlefield 2 or 2142. If you have LAN connection, I call it the "jack" cause you just plug it into your laptop or desktop.Lol, but seriously, use the "jack" if you want better internet connections. It's much better than wireless, due to faster rates.

What is the "SP" Part of the game?
I'll try the lower video settings, thanks.
I do notice that while connected to a server and if I het Escape the background video in the menu screens will lag/hesistate. -

Wireless N has a theoretical higher transfer rate than most LAN connections (it's at 108+Mbps I believe), but it's so dependent on signal strength and interference that you'll likely rarely see speeds as fast as your wired connection. SP mode is Single Player mode.

Ok. looks like I'll have to go wired. I did try it in SP mode and had no lag. THeres my answer. Thanks.

FYI: Wireless N has a faster data rate, but it's still got a higher latency associated with wireless transmissions. Two different concepts, though people often conflate them. 10MB/s wireless and 10MB/s wired both have the same top speed, but the wired connection has faster "acceleration", also known as latency, or lag, so the turnaround time is less on wired connections.

That makes sense. A guy can wish though.
