Gears of War (F1 key is not working + cant create windows live account + can modify graphics nor saving the game + windows live)

hey guys , i googled this problem but sadly no result except for dead links and sum people talking in japanese ...


i installed gears of war today but it seems there are few bugs:-

1- i cant create windows live account

2-F1 key is not working

3-when i try to modify my graghics settings it does not save nor get me back to MAIN MENU (Esc key is not working)

4-Gameplay prograss cannot be saved


this is my second post in this fourms ...the members here are very helpfull (specail thanks to tornbacchus and tuηay)

Did you buy the game or did you download it?
If you have downloaded it and used crack file you will not be able to create/log-in to WindowsLive. I have not played Gears of War but in games like GTA IV you must have a Windows live account to save the game. Quite not sure why your ESC and F1 keys don't work...

Let me know the result please...

 

i didn't buy gears of war so i'm not sure, but for most GFWL games you use the Home key to open live menu, and i think you can only save or load after you log into your live account

 

Yes, but you can't create or login to a windows live account if you leagly not have bought the game...

I brought the game it was buggy as hell, there are acouple of patches one genuine that didnt work for me and one called hamachi fix which unfortunately by-passes the windows live but seems to make everything else work nearly perfectly one of the best games ive played if not for the fact there where so many bugs.
Be warned the hamachi fix stops you from using live and the only way to get around it after install is reinstalling the game...which is a nightmare.

 

1. Download the most recent windows live version and create the account outside GoW.

2. What does F1 do?

3. No idea.

4. You need to be logged to Windows live for the progress to be saved.

 

Not true the hamachi fix allows you to save your game not logged into live, gears was a nightmare for me, when i brought the game a one month free live gold was encluded with the pack (which i still have if someone wants for free?!) but not matter what i did i couldnt get the game to bootup properly, i downloaded all the patches etc and nothing worked, then i found this hamachi fix which finally allowed me to play the game, all be it without live....which didnt bother me in the slightest. If all else fails then hamachi is your only option.

mmm i'll sum up what i have done after reading ur posts :-

1. i tried at first " Hamachi Fix for gears of war v1.0 & v1.1" but unfortunatly my computer said " unknowen version of gears of war detected"

2.i tried to update the game by using a patch called GearsTU (because i read sumwhere that this file will update the game to version 1.1 which is good at least hamachi fix can detect the game Now ) .....but at 10% of the installation an error msg poped that says " Old file not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update was done since file contents do not match"

i googled for a solution and found sum people say that the patch will show the same error msg for onlly the russian & polish versions of gears of war (mine is neither how did i know ? because everything in-game is written in english and i didnt find "read me" or sumthin that tells if i have a russian or polish versions)

3.i didnt buy gears of war .. i borrowed it from a friend ... the CD has the skull logo of gears of war (looks oraginal to me ) and it has NO crack inside of it (not pirated i guess )... but the weird thing is that it didnt come with a CD-key :S ... does that mean this CD is pirated (I really doubt) .. i asked him and he said "i dunno from where i bought it .. it was in 2007 i barely remmber what i ate this morning " ...so guys any ideas ?

Finally (Home-key + F1-key + guide) do the same job which is helping u to do live account .... sadly none of them works

Well my version of GoW had the cd key stuck on the inside of the plastic box, right above the place where the cd lives, i dont know weather the hamachi fix will work if you dont have a cd key. Thorder did things...
1: installed the game
2: updated the game
3: istalled the hamachi fix
4: played the game, still alittle buggy though as sometimes when i reached a checkpoint it wouldnt load ever, so i would have to download someone elses save file and replace that with the chapter checkpoint i was trying to load...ie skip one checkpoint to get it to load again, this happened on four accasions.

whenever i try to update my GOW it says "old file not found blablabla " same

msg i wrote before ,, tried my best but nothin seems to work ... i'll let you

Not sure what you guys mean, but the game is not buggy as hell. I have not had any single problem at all with the game, no lost saves or any crashes. Runs beautiful here and tweaked by me.

 

Mate just because it wasnt buggy for you doesnt mean it wasnt buggy, google it and you will find page after page of problems, from not installing because of some cd protection that expired this year, crashes, issues with live and on and on. Its still a great game and worth trying to get it to work but the three friends i know that have the game for pc all of them had issues with running the game, but im glad you didnt eperience any problems.
