Symbolic link isn't working. Problem is it won't let me copy files without updating permissions on everytyhing. You'd need to adjust every single folder in the game subfolder with permissions and it *MIGHT* work, but not going through that.
This really sucks because I take a regular image of my C: drive which contains my OS, common apps (no games), and data. I keep the high GB app files (mainly games) on a separate drive, and don't need to backup an extra 130GB (Forza + Gears) every time taking up extra space.
I guess I'll just have to move it to C: drive whenever an update is needed then move it back to D: drive after done. So dumb.

I don't want to turn this into a b1tch-fest but another issue is that I can't copy the game over from my desktop to laptop. I have to download the whole damn thing again... Screw you Microsoft.

Well at least you found the files. It took me 30 mins to even activate my game key. Ultimately had to login to an Xbox activate it there and then it showed up on my account.
And after that I couldn't even find the install files. Since I can't bloody choose which ssd I want to install the game to.
Deleted it after playing for 10 mins.Papusan likes this. -
It is in a very obscure location along with the other W10 app garbage (see screen shot). The folder cannot be moved by drag and drop. If you take ownership it still cannot be moved and doing so broke it. I had to uninstall and reinstall after taking ownership because that caused the game to crash.
The people at Micro$loth need a lobotomy.

The original GoW was possibly the best Microsoft Game Studios title ever released. They certainly know how to ruin a good thing, but we already knew that based on their stupidity with W8.X and now W10. Looks like the retard virus has spread from the Windows Development team to Micro$loth Game Studios.
I still have my W10 Enterprise N LTSB Fox Edition with all of the digital filth removed, so once I am done playing the game I'll restore that image and things will be back to normal with Cortana dead and the telemetry, biometrics, Skype, Store and Apps exorcised.Last edited: Oct 26, 2016 -
Yeah , i have almost moved back to Window 7, managed to get Window 7 running in UEFI + CSM mode, and all seems to be peachy for now.
It feels so much more snappier.
As for GOW4, ill just play it on the XBOX. -
Honestly the main reason I got the game was for benchmarking purposes. I did enjoy earlier GoW games though, so maybe I'll have fun with it. But just depends on how often it needs to be updated and if I feel like switching around the files that often. But if I have to download it every time I want to run it on another machine for benchmarking, that's a bit annoying. I keep all my benchmark games and apps on a 1TB 2.5" SSD that I just plug in and go (well with a little configuring). But if I have to wait two hours on every machine I bench just to download it, not to mention at 60-80GB a pop, my ISP might start bugging me.Papusan likes this.

Benching is one of the primary reasons I get any game. All of the things you mentioned that are a problem are definitely a problem for me as well. I am enjoying this game, but I am very dissatisfied with their approach. It's just one more example of how messed up Micro$loth has become.
I lost all respect for Micro$haft when W8 was released. They've done nothing to regain it and from all appearances it appears they are just getting worse instead of learning from their mistakes.Last edited: Oct 23, 2016TBoneSan likes this. -

It's a shame that this game has so much encryption and other BS because when you look past that, it's honestly a fantastic game.

Yes it is. I've been streaming it and playing the campaign and mostly I've enjoyed it. But my thoughts on the ending... Well I don't want to spoil anything.
Maybe I'll post a clip to YouTube an add it here under spoiler alert.i_pk_pjers_i and Mr. Fox like this. -
True, it is a great game. Just think how great it could be if the platform it runs on were not a piece of canine feces.Last edited: Oct 25, 2016TomJGX, sasuke256 and i_pk_pjers_i like this.

Hey I had a quick question, I have a spare code from nvidia, I have two friends that would like it so I figured id ask you guys before I make promises.
My first friend runs an AMD based system and from what i understand you have to go through Nvidia to get it, would that stop her?
My other friend doesn't have a pc at the moment so i was curious if it was eligible for the "play anywhere" thing they have going on. -
Since it is the Digital Version, I do believe you can play it on Xbox One. As for your AMD friend, I don't think it matters, only say you bought an nvidia GPU for the valid gen (like a GTX 1080 or 1070) and fill out the form. Is not like it checks which PC you are running it from.
-
Ok, do I redeem the code with them and then have them send me a code for the windows store or?

Hmmm I think nvidia might try to log in into your MS account. At least it did for steam. Better check that. I would advise for your friend to do the procedure using his/her data and log to their account.
-
Yea, that's what I thought. I'll pass her the info and try to work it out with her. Thanks!

I read gears of war is buggy, is this still the case? Im hoping once I receive my laptop, which is coming with gears of war. Im hoping to be able to run this without issues.
-
Gears of war 4? It's not really buggy. Maybe you are thinking of ultimate? At any rate, I played this on launch and I hardly had any issues (aside from SLI crash but that was known from the devs).

As long as you have plenty of hate drive space, a solid internet connection and only one gpu running, it should be ok. Run driver updates before you download the game also. Post back if you have a prob. I had it pretty rough on my install so I might be able to help if it doesn't work.

Im glad to hear its running fine for the most part, not sure where i read peeps having issues with it. -
I had issues at first and even had to uninstall the whole game and reinstall and update it to get it working but after that i have played countless hours on the single player as well as multiplayer without any problems.

so much for the promised multi gpu support lol, going many weeks later and still nothing. Also, co-op is still broken and connection always times out.
