Gears of War Problems!!!

My specs are down below. When I try to play single player the game lags!!!! Why s it becuase I have programs like macffe runing? Is it my graphics card? Is it my drivers? If its the drivers I need some major help in intaslling them becuase I have no clue what i'm doing when it comes to that!

 

Well first off I would check what your in game settings are... sometimes games automatically change them to what it thinks your hardware can handle and you can get problems there...

Other than that, if you go to nvidia's driver page (link below) and go through their menus there it will tell you if you have up to date drivers or not...

Part of the issue is that, Gears of War is a terrible PC port.

 

gears of war runs bad even on my desktop in my sig, the game stutters and lags because it wasnt ported by EPIC, but a company called people can fly, enough said

The stuttering cant be fixed, even at 100 fps, you will notice stuttering when walking or straffing, also when its time to load the next area, the game tends to lock up in 2 second intervals for a little bit

 

I put it on low settings same problem I check that river thing

 

oh yea, right click the game shortcut and run as administrator

 

+1, also see if you have updated drivers, you can always turn off unnecessary process's in msconfig

 

ok i'm not getting the right driver can someone give the link where i can downlaod it.

 

it did not give me a short cut when i installed it where do i get the shortcut?

 

go to your hard drive, programs, and look for it, could be in microsoft games, or EPIC folder, then MAKE SURE you find the "startup" exe and make a shortcut of that, and run it as admin, other links will crash it, only "startup" works properly

 

I did and it keeps closeing becuase DEP?

 

Ok nvidia does not have driver updates my Gefore 9500M GS where can i get it? I also need help intalling it becuase i don't want to break my laptop.

 

you need to go to laptopvideo2go.com and get the 175.16 or 175.19 drivers, i think those are the best, it should have instructions on how to do everything

that wont work for his 9500m gs, he needs modded laptopvideo2go drivers

 

I ant find the 175.19 drivers or 175.19 drivers I'm running windows vista 32 bit

 

try 175.16, or as the guy in the thread here about 175.19 driver to make u a modified ini.


edit: try these drivers, im not sure how this works, so you may want to do research first, but if it can work on a 8600m gt, then u should be fine

read on the site the inctructions and how to do this, your gpu isnt supported but should work with it

it wont even with new drivers dude, the game is a bad port that doesnt run well on anything. like i said, even my desktop has issues with it. My laptop gpu is about the same as yours in power and i gave up trying gears of war on it

yea, you need alot of cpu and gpu power to maintain smoothness in this game and to cover up the horrible coding they did for the pc. The game uses the unreal 3 engine, as in unrealt tournament 3 and Stranglehold, and those games run great.

btw what resolution were you trying the game at? try lowering it to 1024x768, game still looks good at this res because of the nice texturing the engine outputs

 

Why are you scared to update your drivers? It's not going to "hurt your laptop." Just follow the extremely simple instructions on laptapvideo2go.com. Updating drivers is a necessity.

 

I was unable to gt a short cut to start the game becuase of DEP keeps showing up mybe running as a aminstator could do something it worth a try but this shotcut thing is not working why?

 

Ok I unintalled it and then agian intalled it and it worked great!!! But then when I closed it to take a break I agian got shutter problems. Any idea why? Could it have been from my gpu getting to hot?

 

there is a tweak Config file for Gears to stop the stutter, try googling it, as Halogod2007 stated, gears is the worst performing UT Engine game, Stranglehold had losts of physx and the whole enviroment was destructable. and it ran 60FPS+ even if you are destroying everything at once!

Gears PC = A messy, unfinished jerky mess. - NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.

so what did you end up tweaking?

 

People said to go to the file WarEngineUserSettings.ini. is in documents/my games/gears of war for windows/wargame/config..

Find OneFrameCPULAG=TRUE in that file

and change it to

OneFrameCPULAG=FALSE

The shutter problem is so small that it does not affect the gameplay. The game runs so well now. =) =)

well they did a horrible and sloppy job porting this game, i mean i can run it at over 60 frames per second maxed out on my desktop but for people who have laptops or weaker gpu's that should run the game well have major issues with stuttering, i mean they even forgot the code for the game to exit and install the patch after downloading the updates, people never got to the window that patched the game so basically couldnt play till someone exited the game very fast right after the update finished within seconds
